Sarilumab medication for tapering prednisone

Posted by suzanne63040 @suzanne63040, 2 days ago

I have PMR and also adrenal insufficiency. I have been on prednisone for 13 years. That is why I ended up with adrenal insufficiency. My rheumatologist had never mentioned anything about my adrenal glands. It was actually my cardiologist that discovered it as I ended up in adrenal crisis. Anyway, my new endocrinologist is tapering me off the prednisone. It is definitely causing flare ups of PMR.
My neurologist suggested I ask my new rheumatologist about Sarilumab to help with the taper. Has anyone used this med?

Yes, it is a biologic called Kevzara. Very successful to help me to get off prednisone. It is not instant gratification. Takes days to kick in.

Good luck

@suzanne63040
I have Medicare and supplemental.
I paid the first $2100 to cover my annual deductible for Medicare and it covers all else, including any other RX for the year because I Met my deductible.
