Has anyone taken Lisinopril for migraines/headaches?

Posted by mikayla @mikaylar, Nov 15 9:16am

My neurologist prescribed this blood pressure medication off-label for my headache/dizziness. I have tried everything else so I will give this a shot. One side-effect is dizziness. Go figure!

I take lisinopril for my blood pressure. I also have chronic migraines. I sure wish it would be helpful for my migraines.

@Mikalar, I really hope lisinoprol helps to turn the corner for you with your headaches and you find relief from your pain.
I would appreciate very much your letting me know how you are doing. I know how hard it is to deal with chronic headaches.
Take good care of yourself.

Hi, @mikayla - as you mentioned with this being prescribed off-label, most of the Mayo Clinic Connect discussions on the topic of lisinopril are in the Heart & Blood Health group. Here are a few you might check out to see what others say about this medication and their experiences:

Hi Maxieg, well it's a week and I feel like I am more dizzy than I was before and the headache persists. Not sure how much longer I can stick it out.

Hi Mikalar, thank you for your message. I am very sorry and disappointed that you are dizzy and continuing with your persistent headache. I know how you feel as I suffer with chronic headaches. Some days more so than others. It is very limiting. I must really do things in moderation.
I try to push through and the times that are not as severe as other times gives me a picture of how a better day can be. I continue to walk 30 min. everyday. Not easy to do. But, sitting on the sofa with this headache is not any easier. Exercise can be very helpful.
I hope you will feel relief with your headaches and the dizziness will subside. You are fortunate to have a neurologist who is trying to figure out how to treat your headaches.
I really appreciate your letting me know. Take good care of yourself
