Letters "wave" when reading
Sometimes when reading cc on tv the letters look like a droplet of water dripped on them. Its like a wave passes through them. This does not happen any other time. And does not happen all the time. I've changed TV and changed hertz on tv. I've also been to 2 eye doctors; neither had suggestions.

It sounds very like a macular pucker. I have this, and when I read an eye chart, the letters look like they have ink blots on them and when reading the rows of words are very wavy. But it would be strange that an eye doctor would not see that on an eye scan. In my case, it is in one eye. My vision in the other eye is fine so far.

Thank you!! I dont know why neither of them said anything. Does it get worse? And are you doing anything for it? I will consult another doctor.

1 Reaction@treeck12 I was offered an operation to remove the membrane, but when I found out that I would have to be face down for 48 hours afterwards, probably, I cancelled it, as I live alone. It has gotten worse for me, but for some people, it stays the same. At some point, I will probably have to get it done. Apparently, though, the operation can not return the original level of vision. Good luck, I hope you find out the cause if it is not the macular membrane one.

2 Reactions@kaye46 Thank you and all the best to you! The info you shared is invaluable to me. If we hang on long enough some new discoverirs may make the repair easier. Good luck to us both.

2 Reactions@kaye46 If you can, find your way to an advanced practice Ophthalmologist. My husband had a vitrectomy at the Phillips Eye Institute in Minneapolis that did not require 48 hours face down after surgery. His vision is not perfect, but much improved from prior to the procedure last year.
