Are there any medical insurance carriers who accept Tymlos medication
I have been diagnosed with osteopenia and would like to know if there are any support groups out there regarding this diagnosis.

The group support for osreopenia that I can join.
Can you describe what you are hoping to get from a group. There is a great support here but is it the kind of group that you are seeking?
mymymymy, hi,
There are insurance policies that cover Tymlos. You have to call or look up their formularies on the internet. I don't know which ones they are because I take Forteo.
Is there anyone reading this whose insurance covers Tymlos willing to share their insurer information?

There are osteopenia support groups. Most of us are a little further along than you and having with osteoporosis.
It may be difficult to get a prescription for Tymlos without a T score of -2.5 in any of your measurements. Tymlos is one of the very best medications and worth pursuing.
You are certainly welcome here with osteopenia.
@gently Generslky, osteopenia is treated with Fosomax. Or an oral biophosphate. Tymlos might be covered is you have a history of fractures. Work with your endocrinologist on which carriers & pharmacies will cover it for you.
hi lisa,
If I were osteopenic lower the -2.2, I'd be searching the states to find a physician willing to prescribe an anabolic.
Many who are osteoporotic are prescribed oral bisphosphonates. I'm beyond -2.6.
So much of prescribing protocol is set by "economic feasibility."
I'm curious about who ordered the CT for your bones that showed your bones were more fragile than dexa indicated. If it were your specialist (endocrilogist or rheumatologist) they would be able to write a medical necessity request for Tymlos.
I was rooting for you to get a home health nurse to administer the injection so that Medicare would pay or the drug, but it did seem like a long shot.
Is your doctor advising Fosamax or Reclast? Will you take anything?
Bless your bones.
@gently I recollect my doctor wrote for a prior authorization request. I actually can’t quite remember, but it was never a problem for me to get the TYMLOS covered. I am on Medicare. I am gluten and lactose intolerant and I have a feeling that it was one of those reasons.
@gently people also need to make sure that it’s billed correctly many times with medication’s. It needs to be billed under Medicare part B and it gets billed under part D and gets rejected or the other way around.
