Troponin and BNP are measures of different proteins present in our blood that point to "heart failure." Elevated numbers, according to my cardiologist, are usually found in those of us with HCM as well as in patients with other heart conditions. In my case, my high numbers are monitored for changes, all is well if there are no significant changes. For example, I had Lyme during the early part of the summer. My BNP rose from around 400 to 1000+ which was very concerning. Doctor said to retest after a week on the antibiotic, it nosedived to in the 300's. My troponin was 14.8 at the same time.
