@judybradford I've been on Trazadone for more than 15 years. It helps me fall asleep within 30 minutes. Although I get up to use the bathroom 3 times a night, I do not wake up groggy. There are times that I do need Xanax, but only when I am feeling anxious.
@mmwjagner46 I've been taking it for 42 yrs as a prn( as needed). I take one milligram tablet at night as needed. Some times it was taken once a year. Currently almost every nite as I am a care giver for my husband. Last night I took none.I Started OUT AT 25 MG BUT GRADUATED TO 50 MG
I have been taking it for years. For everyone out there, you have to give it time. The nightmares won't last. Take it regularly and not as needed. But if your not getting to sleep , I guess I wouldn't take it either. I can literally watch the sun come up and have since I was a child. Its been my savior.

@mmwagner46 My GP has me on the 150 mg, but has limited my use by cutting it into 1/3 a tablet each night. He just added the Trazodone to the Zolpidem, this med I've been taking for well over 10 years. It seems the Zolpidem is doing nothing for me at this point.

As we just started, he wanted to see how things progress with a little bit at a time. Seems legitimate to me. Been on that 1/3rd since Nov. 01 and it's not helped It's given one less hour of sleep than what I usually got with the Zolpidem alone. I ready to tell this to my GP and see what happens.
@sandralee69 You've been taking Trazodone for 42 years? How many mgs?

@royanthony 150mg. works well for me. Why did your dr. cut it into a 1/3 tablet?
