Benign carcinoid tumor in bronchi tube

Posted by jessie1990 @jessie1990, Oct 30 1:48pm

Hi I've been diagnosed with a benign typical carcinoid tumor in my bronchi tube in right lung was found when I went to A&E with pneumonia back in July of this year I've had 2 bronchoscopys 2 biopys which showed benign carcinoid tumor I was sent for ct scan mri scan and pet scan pet scan was clear I was put under general anesthetic as my lung specialist said he might be able to remove tumor by going down my throat instead of haven surgery but didn't work but he was able to take 40% of tumor out as it was blocking my air way that's how pneumonia set in the 40% he removed also came back benign carcinoid 1 lymph node was removed and checked also clear now I need surgery to remove the rest I'm so confused as doctor said its a benign tumor then Google is telling me it's a low grade cancerous tumor but doctor nor lung specialist said anything about cancer just said its benign doesnt benign mean non cancerous and can any one tell me how surgery went thank you bless you all xx

@jessie1990 Funny, not funny. I used to go to dinner etc. with a friend that I soon realized was an alcoholic. She would not admit it or seek help. I can have fun without it. It got to the point I could not be in the car with her driving. When I got diagnosed with NETs, the doctor asked if I smoked. (I don't)
Why is their next question about consuming alcohol? Does that affect the tumors?

If they remove the two lobes, what will that mean for you? Will that completely resolve the situation?

@jessie1990 Are you taking anything for the anxiety? Mine has gotten a bit better, but when it hits, there is no way to describe it, unless you have personally experienced it. It can be awful! Doctors here in Portland hesitate to give you anything any more,
but I can buy street drugs on just about any corner. Makes sense.🤔

@jessie1990 Messy? What does that mean?
Alcohol? (Must be a Catholic baptism.) Wild guess, I know. 🤣 I grew up Conservative Baptist. We were lucky if we got a glass of water at a baptism. Ha

@jessie1990 I stay in the outlining areas. Portland is a hot bed right now with the ICE issue and homelessness. 😔 I don't want to have to get a g*n. Maybe pepper spray. Just not safe. But I would like to work with children that have cancer. If I did, I'd have to get closer to a hospital in the city. I know that would help my depression.

@jessie1990 I never thought about categories of depression. I can see how certain things would produce certain depressions. Interesting. You've really been put through the mill. I'm sorry. Southern saying: Bless your ❤️

@jessie1990 Am I reading this right? Is your lung STILL collapsed with the tumor blocking your lung?
