I had a Ct in December 2016,showed 3 nodules 6mm,5mm&4mm in right upper lobe! Last week I had a Ct bc of a different issue and ER Dr told me I had 1 nodule in my right upper lobe that was 8mm and subpleural and a tiny subleural nodule in my left lower lone and small scattered lymph nodes throughout the paratracheal region? What does this mean?Pulmononlogist called finally after a few weeks and finally radiology compared both Cts and was told I need Pet Scan which is next Tuesday. I feel frozen and numb! He said it was triangular in shape and something about right hiler? Gosh I can't even think. Advice please

Hello everyone,I have been trying to post yet again and for some reason still keep getting error?
Anyway, I had my Bronchoscopy Wednesday am and Pulmonologist had a pathologist with him, they put under with General so I didn't move at all.2 Anesthesia Drs there too.4 Nurses, it made me a bit nervous but safe for some reason.Dr told me he didn't see ANY CANCER! Yes!! They took samples as well, chest ebus afterwards.I have to say I am hurting from that test and am also a bit worried about test result that will be coming back in a few. I am not sure what to expect now,Do they remove the mass,Does it turn into cancer if they don't?I'm not looking for things to worry about only trying to know what to expect.Any thoughts? Thank you for all your prayers too!

Can anyone tell me how Dr can say no cancer and we still wait for biopsy results? Pathologist was with Pulmonologist during bronchoscopy and looked at sample?

@pattymac Often a biopsy is used to detect problems other than cancer. I'm not sure what it might in your case. Once you get the results you should have your answer. Teresa

@pattymac How great that the doctor did not see any cancer. That must be a relief! Teresa

I'm earning my Associates of Science Degree and going on to an RN Program. Well at least that was my plan anyway. My kids are all over, married with families.
I'm much better with anyone else's issues than my own at this point. I am just not happy with looking at that information in my chart online, when this is the only Dr that could of put it there bc the other Drs aren't affiliated with this office? I've had my Grandaughters up here from Fort Campbell area and we went to movies tonight so a couple hours of not thinking about it. My kids all know and think it's something that can be fixed? I'm just so over this stress!

Pattymac.... you said Pathologist was present...am guessing he felt comfortable telling you non cancer by visual appearance...by palpation...they might have done a frozen section immediately but always follow up with final biopsy report ....terridrell

Dr told me pathologist would be there and we would know what we're dealing with when bronchoscopy was finished.I looked on MyChart and cytology said no evidence of malignancy and then 4 other tests were done like a stain smear chest X-ray which was clear?

Fungus smear, acid smear and gram stain I believe those were the tests?

I able to pay it forward before I'm called home. I'm not saying I won't have a possible bump in the road ahead but I have to let go of what I can't control too.

Pamelasc...excuse the delay in answering your questions re sleep apnea....I really don't have any of the classic symptoms...am 72....the local pulmonologist spotted it when doing my bronchoscopy last July....when I was being evaluated at NJH this past January they suggested the Sleep Study which I then had there....they do 14 people every night ...7 nights a week. I amazed myself by being able to do 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep during the study.the test results showed obstructive sleep apnea.

If on Medicare..I found out once home...a Dr normally has to order the CPAP equipment ( if needed) within 90 days or sleep study has to be repeated.
In my situation , the pulmonologist (I had gone to at home )when I saw him after
My evaluation at NJH went "nutso" that I would not be taking the MAC antibiotics and had had the sleep study at NJH and not locally
In order to get the CPAP equipment without redoing sleep study....I switched to another local medical system pulmonologist who agreed with NJH re not needingMAC treatment and ordered the CPAP equipment after evaluating the 71 pages faxed to him by NJH.

In a week I will go to local DME place to be fitted for the full mask and learn to set up equipment and clean it. Medicare has rules about follow up at pulmonologist's once I get the equipment. They are checking for patient compliance...I heard somewhere that 50% of people with CPAP equipment don't use it...I know 2 couples...all 4 have CPAP machines...one couple swear by the equipment and use it consistently...the other 2 despise it and rarely use....all 4 have histories of cardiac, pulmonary and other issues and immunological conditions.
And YES....the fact that 49 times a minute according to my test while asleep my breathing stopped thereby depriving heart of Oxygen may lead to damage to heart which in turn causes heart to go into failure.
And yes....when in Denver visiting daughter...i feel chest pressure in that altitude...like u feel in Idaho...I don't feel it at home in Wisconsin.
As of 2 years ago I required 2 stents in right coronary artery for 99% blockage...will have another stress test and nuclear scan to be sure all still clear...all other tests "normal" so to avoid permanent damage to heart have to have the scan ( then once scan showed " ischemia" had catherization which showed blockage and stents placed which prevented damage to heart)
And Yes...Sleep Apnea can cause damage to heart and that is why I will force self to use equipment. The only symptom I answer yes to when asked is that after driving over an hour by self in car...I get sleepy.
I wake up from sleep refreshed...no headaches...don't snore...sleep thru night..etc ...
So much info for you...ask any other questions etc terrid
