Can Neuropathy be cured?

Posted by catstx @catstx, Sep 8, 2021

I’ve had P. neuropathy for 30 years. Just recently I’ve better controlled my blood sugar. So, I’m wondering if Neuropathy ever goes away, Or, if once the nerves are dead they’re just dead

I was diagnosed about 3 years ago and told there was no cure and no treatment. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

I've had ND-PN , for 2o+ years. NOTHING has helped with pain relief. I've had all the protocol meds.
I recently had a TKR for my right knee. I was hesitant that if it worked it may help stop the knee pain but also unmask and accelerate the neuropathy pain in my feet and hands. It's been six months since the knee surgery and the knee pain is much less, but the knee remains somewhat stiff, and now the Ortho Dr., said he could do my left knee, but it may be a partial knee replacement, not as bad surgery and recovery wise, he hopes, but won't know for sure until he gets a look inside, it could be a TKR anyway. Jour-NV-x did absolutely nothing for pain. And it was touted as a game changer? Now the neuropathy pain in my right foot has changed and feels like a severe itch that can't be scratched? Was the trauma from the right TKR what brought this on? Does anyone know if nerve block pain implanted devices are a possible and EFFECTIVE, non-NARC pain reliever? Thank you.

Neuropathy is nerves DEMYELINATION. That's their insulation wearing away from poor diet and alcohol.
Just take METHYCOBALAMIN suppl. Or eat a good serve of mussels weekly. They have 10 times as much B12 as red meat.

@jamessaxo Those aren't the only 2 things that will cause neuropathy, if they were it would be common knowledge.

True, but the main cause is poor absorption because of alcohol damaged intestine villi.

@jamessaxo Sounds like blaming the victim to me. I don't drink yet have suffered with neuropathy for years. Please don't overgeneralize. It doesn't help people who are suffering and doesn't undo the damage of neuropathy.

@jamessaxo I have recently read about B6-toxicity as a cause of neuropathy. Recent blood test indicated that my B6 is double the normal limit and I have sensor motor polyneuropathy. I do not take any B6 supplements, etc. It is a puzzle. I return to the neurologist this month to discuss all of this.
It is something for you to think about.

@pamfitz Agreed, I've never consumed alcoholic beverages, or used illegal drugs, yet somehow I've been dealing with idiopathic poly neuropathy in my feet for over a decade.

I have no idea what b6 does.
I just know that most seniors are low B12. B12 is made in cobalt rich soils. Grazing animals pull up grass contain it ( cobalamin) . Us seniors have less stomach acid. The B12 molecules gets separated and goes thru intestine wall into bloodstream. Seniors have less acid. Trouble is, most seniors have also damaged their 20 ft small intestine wall by drinking alcohol .

Are you takeing METHYLCOBALAMIN.
Seniors absorb less B12 because they have less stomach acid. I am 83 , take B12 and have no neuralgia now. Last year I suffered TRYGEMINAL neuralgia. Pain was terrible. On the internet I figured out how to fix.
Good luck.
