I'm still puzzled at how there cou3 be no infectious bacterial growth but the wound is still draining pus. Also she took antibiotics from feb to march 20. After that she didn't take any antibiotics.
What kind of infection you had in your ear? Was it staph? Good to know its better now.
I do not have a hip and I have to walk with a walker. Does anyone know how I might be able to walk again. My doctor that took my hip replacement out won't put one back in now. I would really like to walk again especially since I'm only 42.

Can you tell us a little more about why you have no replacement hip joint? When was it implanted, and when was it removed? If the removal was the result of MRSA or another infection, what is your infection status now? Do you have other health issues that make your surgeon reluctant to do another surgery?
Let us know, and maybe we can help with more information.

I’m 36 I had a girdlestone procedure after they removed my hip implant.Due to mrsa . it took me about a year of daily exercising to get muscle back in my leg to be able to walk without assistance.. I do use a cane in public cuz if the limp but don’t need it. My surgeon thinks be cause I’m doing so well without the hip joint that doing another one would just be too risky I guess.. I could get the infection again and be screwed.. so that sucks

Physical therapy was no help.. they didn’t know what to do with someone with my problem.. I ride a stationary bike started with little tension and now can use at full strength and have a small stepper machine.. I started off small just lifting my leg any way I could because as you probably know, It can’t move normally lol but light leg weights and just whatever I could do .. I just went with it and kept at it. It was and still is hard but I don’t think I’d be able to walk if it wasn’t for the exercise.

girdlestone performed march 2016. originally there was a 1 3/4" leg discrepancy today july 2020 I have 3 1/2" leg discrepancy. I can walk without aids but my body and arms are swinging around I mostly walk using two forearm crutches. I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow and I will ask him for a referral to another surgeon as he will not work on my hip anymore. My first THR was April 2009

Did you go to physical therapy or do it on your own. I would like to know the exercises you do so that I can try that too.
