Meningioma: Anyone else? I'm frightened

Posted by pixie49247 @pixie49247, May 12, 2023

I just found out I have a Meningioma tumor from a MRI I had for something else. Doctor said they are almost always benign and am going to get an appointment with a neurologist. Anyone else have one of these. I’m getting very frightened now.

janeelaine: Radiation scares me, too. But if you have no other option, that is just what you may have to do. But I am wondering, if perhaps, resection was ever mentioned as an option. I was told by my neurosurgeon that to remove the meningioma, if possible, is always the preferred way to go. I had a craniotomy and it was not a big deal. So if that is an option, give it some thought.

Just diagnosed on Tuesday. Meeting with a surgeon today. I'm feeling overloaded with facts and information. I'm hoping for some clear direction from the doctor.

After I went deaf in my Lt ear I had an MRI. They found 2 on my RT side by the optic nerve and nerve to ear. This was a year ago. Still deaf in Lt ear and the RT Eye tumor started to grow. Just completed 5 radiation treatments. You just move forward. What else can you do? My next MRI is in March and I'll see what comes next.

@crowley53

This is too much for one person to handle. I am so sorry. I pray you can find effective treatment.

Good morning. Yes I have one also. I tripped and fell back in 2021, went to ER and was told that everything looked good, and that my Meningioma from 2006 hadn’t grown much. No one ever told me that I had one. Long story short, I had the Gamma Knife in March, 2024. It was amazing I was in and out in 1 day. Latest MRI, shows, that it hasn’t grown since. The outcome will be that it will eventually start slowly shrinking. Get a good Dr. and a good hospital. I’m fortunate to live within distance of Univ. of Pa. Good luck. I know that it maybe scary, but, fortunately they have a non-invasive procedure that hopefully you’ll qualify for.

@randallshields56 wasn't trying to scare you or anything about the prayer groups thing, i believe in angels and miracles and that enough warriors fighting for the same cause helps. that's a good ting. tis all that i was trying to get across to you. i had a tumor right frontal lobe that caused a lot of the same symptoms you described. then they ended up going after a bleeder. imp doing great right now. i was to some of my family , don't know if you've watched the movie 50 first dates but that was me. have a awesome day today and prayers your way and blessings.

@crowley53 you have tumors on the right side but can't hear out of the left. Are the tumors related to the hearing loss?

@poofy I was just diagnosed as well and haven’t gotten in to the Dr yet. I just read my results from the MRi myself and now I wish I hadn’t. My memory has been bad lately too. I forget words and can’t finish a thought. Would like to keep in touch with others going through this scary stuff.
