I am also experiencing hair loss. My rheumatologist assured me this loss was triggered by the disease GCA and not by my use of prednisone. The disease is a shock to the system resulting in hair loss.
Dear mlz,
Thanks for the information regarding how long it might take Kevzara to be effective. I was expecting a more rapid onset of action so will try to be patient. I hope getting off the methotrexate leads to some hair regrowth!

I was diagnosed in May 2025 by GP and rheumatologist. Pain started in the prior fall. I have tapered down to 5mg of prednisone and had to go back up to 8mg due to pain in hip. I am tapering again. I have lost at least 2/3 of my hair. My ponytail used be larger than a silver dollar diameter. It is now about the size of the diameter of a nickel! It has changed to being very dry and wiry. I sure do hope it grows back when PMR is done with me and looks healthier. Also, my rheumatologist said that prednisone does not make your hair fall out. Since being in this support group - I do not agree with her.

@pbhorton I don’t agree with them at all. I had no issues with my hair until pred. I lost it to chemo some years back so I know how this feels. It’s due to the pred!!! People in this group say it will grow back. I’m down to 6 mg now. My fingers are crossed.
