Good for you! It sounds like you are doing what you need to do to stay healthy. I love listening to Dr. Li. He seems to be right on. The last message I watched was a 2-hour presentation in which he mentioned how some of his patients changed their diets and improved. I want to believe that that can happen. I don't do much exercise, but I did get my A1C down to 6.5 without medication, and lost 17 lbs. You inspired me to buy his book. Thanks for the info.
I am concerned about the comments suggesting that lifestyle changes and faith alone can cure cancer. Miracles aside, diet, exercise, sleep, believing in something bigger than yourself and a positive attitude can enhance treatment, but they are not a cure for a disease that will kill you without medical intervention. They work hand-in-hand to give us the best survival rate.

@vmeder you make an important point--thank you. Unfortunately I have two acquaintances with breast cancer who did no medical treatments. Both died quite quickly. I was diagnosed with breast cancer three years ago. I was already eating carefully, meditating, exercising daily, and more. These good habits have given me a much better quality of life before, during, and after treatment. But they did not prevent the cancer. I just continue because I feel better day to day when I do.
I am currently following a keto/intermittent fasting diet and feel great. It makes sense to me that when our bodies are constantly digesting food when we eat 3 meals plus snacks, it can’t use any energy towards autophagy. (Self healing). I had gained 25 lbs the year following my diagnosis (8/2024-6/2025). but have since lost 28. I have more energy and less cravings for carbs. Time will tell if it helps prevent recurrence but I know obesity adds to the risk so I’m happy to be losing weight.
Since I have now had bc twice in 6 years I started thinking about my diet. I found this book called BREASTS The Owners Manual by Kristi Funk (I got it from audible but you can get it on Amazon for $11.69) that has really been helpful on which foods have the best nutritional value in helping to ward off breast cancer.
@prc73 Are your doctors saying one or two drinks a week are okay? Mine started out like that but now they're saying no drinking at all. (and most of the articles are now saying that too.) I hardly ever drank...mostly when we were out for dinner. But now I've sworn it off. I wish they would make up their minds! And they probably don't know for sure. This is so new.
@marshgirl24 my breast surgeon 6 yrs ago said to quit the wine. I had maybe a glass in evening with dinner. It took me a bit of time but I am now Wine Free 😊. I had lemon water in my wine glass as replacement for a bit. Now I do not miss it at all.
@mimi09
No one can guarantee you an additional 10 years of life.
It’s all a guess predicated on cancer.
You slip and fall and break your hip.
You get into a car accident.
You have a stroke.
You have a heart attack.
What does cancer have to do with these things?
Nothing. But these things CAN happen and some are worse than cancer.
I reasoned when I had to drive 40 miles one way for chemo.
Thats 80 miles and in a metroplex.
My chances of getting into a car accident were greater than my dying with stage 3 cancer.
We must realize our time here is short and theres more to life after we leave here if you have a faith.
You must make your own choice. But no doctor can guarantee by having a surgical procedure it secures continued life.
During the procedure they might find you have other problems going on or your cancer is worse than they thought.
“Tomorrow is promised to no one.”
Please understand, Im being genuine here and not meaning or saying this harmfully.
Best to you.
79 years is a lot of living. Youve been blessed!
@ebtexas55 Amen. There are no guarantees. I even question these charts/information that IF you take AIs your chance of reoccurrence is such & such percentage. Every body is different. Previous illnesses, your immune system etc. We have to make decisions for ourselves using medical information as best we can from doctors and research. Blessings to you snd all that are on this journey.

I am about to start the keto diet. I have been practicing intermittent fasting for months and have lost 17 pounds. I would like to know how you do the keto diet. I have been hesitant because I also have kidney disease, and some of the foods in the diet are not good for the kidneys. I appreciate any suggestions you provide. Thanks and best of luck!
