Family and friends deny long covid

Posted by suefish @suefish, Oct 6 11:53pm

Most of my family and a few friends, including a couple of MD’s, think that I either don’t have long covid or that I have a serious issue (such as dementia) also. I have had this for more than a year and have many signs: brain fog (worst), headaches, sinus congestion, sleepiness inappropriately, weird repeated dreams, and more. There are no significant clinics within a two hour drive. Can anyone name a place where I can at least get a diagnosis? The neurologist where I live blew me off. I’m in the old range but relatively in pretty good shape except for LC. Thanks to all of you who are presenting this opportunity to get help and information. @suefish

@dfranzen sending u tons of love and good healing energy. Advocating for urself is the only way to get help. There is help out there but u have to seek it. If the Bateman Horne Center guide for medical professionals was distributed as a national initiative and each state had a task force with the power to educate about LC and set up just one center for LC where everyone that is diagnosed can get the same testing and analysis, an awesome database would be created. Let AI look for the biomarkers that they have insisted they needed to even start to care. Lol i doubt there is just one biomarker since there are 4 subtypes of LC. Interesting fact though, dogs have proven to be able to detect LC in humans. Does that keep open the possibility that there is one biomarker? Dogs can smell cancer no matter what type it is. I had a dog named Bentley earlier in my LC when i was literally at heavens gate with the vibrating in abdomen at a nightmare level. I kept saying to the ER drs, why cant u hear it, my dog can hear it. Lol my dog never left my side and he was obsessed with my abdomen. His head was always rested on it and he would sniff and look at the area suspiciously. I wish i had him still.

@suefish There are two here in Cleveland - Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals. I got a referral to UH but I had to fight for it. A big symptom of Long Covid is brain fog. Hang in there !

Unfortunately I have had to diagnose myself and keep repeating it to the Drs. I am currently dealing with an overactive immune response to inflammation. So from what I can find for indoor on Drs papers they write about PASC long Covid the body is trying to get locate what it knows is microscopic so to speak particles left of Covid19 and it keeps doing it over and over to the point it becomes overactive for some of us I have entire body inflammation right now I can't get any Dr in Maine to treat. They keep telling me it a my body gaining weight. Which I know the difference at 49yrs old between weight gain and inflammation especially since I spent 20 years in nursing .

Hope this helps. I’m an old man but in really good shape in my 60s I was bench pressing 90 pound dumbbells. Each hand
Things were going great
F—- Covid hit I got all the same symptoms that you have specially brain fog. memory was horrible Can’t remember much after 2 to 3 weeks would feel like two or three years-what I kept doing for the next 2+ years was working out eating good and having good support system, my wife.
I was pretty bad at one point I needed help to walk 10 or 12 blocks where before I could walk all day
by the time I got home I felt somewhat OK finally now I’m getting better feeling better. It takes time.
Ps. This would’ve usually taken me give or take five minutes to write now took me 10 to 15 minutes but two years ago it would’ve took me 30 to 40
Stay strong

@bigj I am 49 yrs old as of Oct 3rd. I have long Covid. Right now I am fighting the inflammation all over my body came on 4 months ago and prednisone helps but not something I can take all the time . DHEA helped me with massive brain fog, it's a part of how testosterone comes into the body. That being said it only helped with Memory issues but I'm thankful The all over the body inflammation for me is causing a big issue a Voltaren helps but says can't be used on rib cage area. I take NAD shots 150mg 2 times a a week which is where the main ingredient in Voltaren comes from but that helps very little so far. This is week 8 for the shots of NaD I have heard it takes months . For that to help

@bigj @suefish. My brain fog of 1.5 years is pretty bad. I get lots of prayers AND nasty looks — that are thinking what is “long covid?”. . .
