Bronchiectasis ACT equipment sterilizing

Posted by potterksp @potterksp, 3 days ago

I have Bronchiectasis, but no NTM's. I do two breathing treatments each day & have been sterilizing (boiling for 10 minutes in distilled water & putting in the Bololo (sterilize & dry) after each one. Isn't there some safe process I could follow after my morning treatment with my equipment & do the sterilizing only once per day (after the evening treatment) Thanks, potterksp

@potterksp @kate2025 There is no need to do both. Boiling or using the baby bottle sterilizer are 2 different methods of sterilizing. I keep 2 sets of nebulizer cups and in the morning after I neb, I rinse my nebulizer parts and let them dry. In the afternoon after I do my 2nd nebulizer, I rinse those parts and then soak everything in warm water with clear dishwashing liquid for 5 minutes. Then I rinse everything well, shake off the water and put everything in the sterilizer/dryer. In the morning, I unload the sterilizer and repeat the process.

The 6 month cup I get from medical store there is a do not sterilize warning on package.
I just rinse cups hot soapy water, shake off and let air dry.
I only blow into Aerobika so use for about 5 days. Soak, rinse and then bottle sterilizer.
I've been getting new ones mixed up with older ones. The "permanent" marker comes off.
I threw an Aerobika away today. Just didn't feel a flutter coming from it. I don't know. Confusing.
The new ones make a noise. Flutter?
Really getting tired of whole process. Have to hold my cheeks when doing Aerobika.
I noticed my teeth are moving so easing up a bit.
Tired, Tired. Tired.
I just started taking mirtazapine, again.
Doc said give full 8 weeks to work.
After taking at 10pm I was up roaming the house at 1am.
Finally took a clonazepam.
Got some sleep.
Sorry so long. Just tired of whole process and the way doctors stack one treatment (pill) on top of the other.
Someone sure as heck is raking in the dough on these items.
Cynical right now. I'll get over it. I hope.

@sheila7a Couple quick things...I'm wondering if the cups you are getting are intended to be disposable? The sample set up I received at Mayo was and I only found out because I called company with a question. The regular ones can be sterilized. It might be worth asking the provider of equipment and telling them you need ones that can be sterilized.

I ran into same issue with marker coming off. I try to remember to put in zip bag to keep separate.

I use dishwashing soap and hot waterand then rinse in hot water and put the Pari Sprint in a Philips Avent baby bottle sterilizer, $99 on Amazon. If I have a chance I will sometimes dry again in the unit before my second neb for the day. Works great.

I buy extra disposable cups.
I receive a 6 month cup from medical supply store. They send to me. The package has a do not sterilize warning.
I soak in hot soapy water, rinse with hot water.
The disposable ones I use for about a week or 2 then toss.
If I remember I will soak the 6 month cup in water and vinegar.
