Heavy perfume in medical facilities, or anywhere, really

I am highly reactive to scents, fragrances, chemicals. I go into bronchial spasms, pain, vomit then extreme exhaustion and fatigue. So I went to an allergist - the sign on the door said "No food or drink, no water. Some patients are highly allergic". So I opened the door and went to the reception desk - they were LOADED with perfume - I complained and all the dr did was shrug his shoulders. that was the last time I went there. Amazingly - he has an excellent reputation, just poor office management. Since I have on top of everything else MCAD - the doc to help is the allergist, but apparently the Allergists in rural/quasi urban settings are not keeping up with the latest info on Mast cell research. Very disappointing!

@sickofpasswordsu2 It is really disabling when you walk into a toxic cloud of fragrance chemicals. I have even had trouble staying at a hotel because of out gassing from building materials. Often there is formaldehyde in adhesives and carpeting. I had a bad asthma reaction and I think that was aggravated by vinyl flooring that simulated a wooden floor. It took a long time to recover. I also get a skin reaction that looks like sunburn.

Did you look for another doctor?
