Any success stories about Evenity to share with fearful me?
After acquiring 2 compression fractures, I am biting the bullet and going for my first Evenity shot in 2 days. I am afraid of everything from heart palpitations (I have AFIB) to muscle spasms and joint pain and everything else . Has anyone been ok on the shots? Or only had minor issues? I would love to read encouraging words. My REMS scores were ok: hip -1.0, spine -1.2, but my DEXA scores were much worse: hip -2.8, spine-4.8, so I feel I have little choice now. Many thanks.

2 Reactions@janeth73 Yes! I love listening to his podcasts. I know he is trying to get people to join his Osteo Collective Program which can cost about $15,000 a year, but at least his podcasts are FREE and he does look into the studies behind the trials!!
3 Evenity infusions so far and no side effects at all. Just to add to the anecdotal data!

2 ReactionsI had consultations with three bone specialists before deciding to go on Evenity. All were in agreement that I needed to be on an anabolic medication.
I had good gains on Evenity.
I did not have previous treatment with osteoporosis medications.
Left Total Hip Results
7/31/2024 = -2.8
9/29/2025 = -1.7
Change vs. Previous 20.2%
Right Total Hip
7/31/2024 = -2.1
9/29/2025 = -1.2
Change vs. Previous 16.3%
Spine
7/31/2024 = -4.3
My lowest numbers were at L1 and L2 = 4.5
9/29/2025 = -2.6
Change vs. Previous 33.2%
I cannot be sure, but I suspect that the Evenity caused my hips, thighs & buttocks to ache more. My discomfort was tolerable and carried on with 12 months of Evenity. I finished Evenity in August 2025 and I still have aching.
For my follow-up medication I decided to take Fosamax.

8 ReactionsI am an athletic, small structured 67 yr old with a family history of osteoporosis. I had osteoporosis from age 52 & been on & off Alendronate for a total of 9 years. After discovering a spinal compression fracture my rheumologist suggested Forteo but after 3+ months my side effects were too severe so I hesitantly switched to Evenity. I finished 1 year on it & have had no issues (other than tenderness at the injection sites) & great gains (into osteopenia range). Now I'm struggling with what to do next to 'lock in' those gains. Prolia and Aclasta scare me! Prior to Alendronate I tried 3 yrs of the non-drug route with a naturopath, nutritionist, personal trainer, supplements & lost a great deal of bone mass. Hope my positive experience with Evenity helps. My pharmacist give me 3 shots & my daughter gave me 9 at home.

3 Reactions@djmm My experience was just fine with Evenity. My history is about the same as yours, though I’m now 72.
My bone scan, after a year on Evenity is all osteopenia, except for the hip which is at a -2.7, which I’m told is just under the ostopenia range. I also weight train, two years now. I will be getting Reclast infusion to maintain my gains.
The infusion center i go to at the local hospital, after voicing my concerns about Reclast, said for the years they have been giving them, no of no one at their center that has had a bad reaction to Reclast. I assume that means during the infusion, not some bad reaction days later.

2 ReactionsPretty similar numbers with my bones! I just got home from the Reclast infusion; If you want to PM me in a day or two I can tell you what if any side effects I had. Also, from what I read: hydrate A LOT - take a Claritan - and then I believe you need to take calcium and D3 daily. I take K2MK7 to bind the calcium to the bones so it is not floating around my arteries causing plaque build up. The infusion process was not painful at all; I did a "slow" infusion and then a bag of IV to fllush it. You can ask your doctor to order that. Instead of 15 minutes it too an hour.

2 ReactionsI realize I posted about Reclast; my doctor did not want me to do EVENITY due to a heart artery problem.

Hi, thank you for your thorough advice! I will use your ice before & after tips. 🙏
I am preparing for Evenity too, because I have a wedge fractured L1 vertebrae from a severe fall on July 13, 2025, and just that has worsened my spinal pain and scoliosis angle by a shocking amount, causing my lower ribs to now be “ sitting on my pelvis”. It is beyond shocking. The surgeon wants to have surgery side by side with start of Evenity bec he clearly feels my spine will worsen; the endocrinologist said absolutely not, six months minimum taking Evenity before my bones could hold the hardware. . . so who does one listen to?
Both the surgeon & endocrinologist feel the severity of reaction is from osteoporosis. I’m still mostly bedridden, but walking 8 blocks a day now to recover along with PT. I am terrified to start the drug, because I have frequent, lifelong intractable migraine since age 5, now 74.
Curious, when you lie down after teach injection until you feel better, what symptoms do you have immediately after each to need to recover & lie down?
Thank you again for your clear words. 💜
@margaretisabel: Hope this is a good day where you are and you have been able to do your walk!
I decided to do the Evenity injections before bedtime because I tried the early afternoon injections - then fixed light dinner, and finished some paperwork at my desk… all the while feeling more nauseous, stomach ache and increased headache.
Injections at bedtime have worked better for me. I have already taken the Tylenol, continue to drink water and take my night-time meds while in bed. If I feel a little ache I put the ice pack on my insertion site. I am curled up in bed and fall asleep.
Although… If I were driving home from the Dr or Infusion Center I would have the ice pack ready to use on my way home. I would relax muscles as much as possible. Once home I could use the electric heating pad or ice to find comfort and avoid moving around. (Probably go to bed early ).
I hope these suggestions help you prepare for Evenity. Neither one of us know that Evenity is the best route to increase bone strength, but we must think all positive thoughts to help healing. For me every months injections get easier and less effect even in insertion sites & no headaches! Best…
