Is anyone on Levqio
I am a 43 year old female with multiple health issues including ashtma, a genetic gene for CAD and LAD, and an undiagnosed autoimmune disorder that causes inflammation in all organs and tissues. So far I had rhadnomyolyisis with rosuvastatin, atorvastatin, pravastatin, and ezemtibe. I also was tried on repatha and had severe abdonimal pain that sent me to the ER. My cardiologist wants to put me on levqio but I cannot find any info on if it may cause the severe inflammation in my digestive tract like the repatha did. All medication and supplements with biological or enzymes compontients have cause this severe inflammation.

I have been using leqvio for a little over a year and a few months ago I pop up with a uti. I did a search and this injection can cause a uti, it's one of the side effects. I really don't care to suffer with effects from a drug that I take to help me but if it helps with the cholesterol that I can work with it. So many medications that we take have side effects and it is our call to determine if its in our best interest to continue it.
Hi @peterpam2627, @bgold, it’s great to see you comment and share with other members like @kisu on Mayo Clinic Connect! You have concerns about a connection between Leqvio and urinary track infections. It does sound like others have made this association since it is listed as a side effect making it something important to pay attention to.
I can’t help but look through a lens of Inclisiran (Leqvio) perhaps problem solving in my body, opposed to causing problems. I don’t know. I believe I have tried every type of cholesterol treatment and have been super unsuccessful with some, enough that I said, “never again”. My numbers have been under control for the first time in my life, since adding those medications after starting Inclisiran a couple years ago.
I hit a systemic circulation crisis a few years ago. When I got to Mayo Clinic my doctors have followed the approach of protecting my heart and then taking one symptom at a time. As examples, @diamellet mentioned GI problems with other drugs in this discussions original comment. I have experienced the same. You mention UTI’s. No UTIs here but definitely weirdness with all things related. My doctors tell me what to do, I do it and make incremental progress. This has involved a consistent high level of exercise, healthy eating and medications. What we do at times seems to “cause” something else. I don’t think I would have stuck with the process had it not been for the fact that I was so desperate and they were so confident. It is a great relationship.
I guess I am wondering if Leqvio does something to my body to make it function better systemically, or all over. Then, this shakes things up and causes something else to get highlighted, needing addressed. Of course, I am not a trained medical person and only have my experience to go on.
Do you have other health conditions, and if so what has happened with them since starting Leqvio? Would it be valuable to ask your doctor(s) how lowering your LDL so effectively should be impacting how your entire body is functioning?
@jlharsh
I started Leqvio about 2 weeks ago,all my labs were great,then I was complaining about shar pain in my liver,don’t have a gall bladder,more blood work,all 3 liver enzymes were through the roof and CK was through the roof,having CT scan today with and without contrast,back is hurting and ribs on left side,has anyone else had this or is it all a coincidence?

1 ReactionI am nine days post of receiving my first injection of Leqvio.
My previous experience with taking Statins, Ezetimide and Fenofibrate all caused sever upper GI pain. I would discontinue the medications in order to lose the side effect. The last time I took Pravastatin (Dec. 2023) the upper GI pain was persistent two months after I stopped. I had many tests including ultrasound which showed a slight enlargement on the left lobe of my liver. (Dr. was not concerned) as my liver labs were all normal. I also had a HIDA Scan which was a test of my Gallbladder that turned up normal. Endoscopy showed upper GI inflammation. I was prescribed Omeprazole and Sucralfate which I've been taking since. My symptoms of upper GI pain improved.
Until I received the Leqvio injection. Two days later I'm in pain again, only this time is coupled with nausea. I have accommodated my diet to bland foods. This has helped somewhat.
I wish I could make this discomfort go away at this point like I used to by stop taking the medication. However this time I cannot as it is a side effect from the injection.
At this point I don't want to continue with subsequent injections of Leqvio.
I feel at a loss of what else to take for high Cholesterol.
@dthorn1975, welcome!
I am checking in to see what you found out from your CT and how you are feeling.
Have you had a chance to visit with your prescribing doctor about your Leqvio experience?

1 ReactionHi, @cyn222. Welcome to Connect. I understand how disappointed you must be to take another medication only to feel so poorly yet again. I imagine you feel deflated.
I understand how you feel having tried every possibility myself, including LDL apheresis. I want to encourage you to keep talking to your doctor(s) and prioritize a healthy lifestyle. Unlike you, Leqvio has been a game changer. I am getting ready for my 5th injection and so far so good. I did have a rough night after #1 and not much since. Two other medications I also take are ones I have been unsuccessful with before. In fact, I said, ‘never again’ to each one. For the first time my LDL is at a controlled level. My doctors take an integrative approach and I am doing all I can with diet and exercise. I have learned taking a lower amount of several drugs works better than a high dose of only one.
I am a convert from thinking diet and exercise don’t make a difference with my genetics. I have learned just how much lifestyle choices impact how my body functions. The better my body functions, the better chance a drug has to help.
You mention liver testing and trying various drugs to treat your cholesterol. I assume you work with a cardiologist and GI doc. Are they working together to figure out what is happening with you?
