What can I try besides pain relievers for constant headache
I was sick a few months ago with something viral or maybe bacterial (my Dr couldn’t tell) but it was like the flu. Whatever that illness was it has left me with a constant debilitating headache, I can’t sleep at all some nights. I can’t take pain relievers anymore because they don’t work and I took them for so long I need to wean off of them. While my doctors try diff meds what recommendations does the group have for other interventions? It’s such quality of life issue.

@fourleaf Thanks for this. I only recently discovered Krumholz and Iwasaki and the Yale studies. They and their teams seems to be doing the best research I have found.

1 Reaction1) Check your iodine levels and correct if low. 2) Check your thyroid levels.
3). For long term covid in my personal experience and with others too, take 12.5 mg iodine until you feel better (possibly as soon as in 5 days) then take for three weeks longer. At the same time take 2-500 mg l-lysine pills. Do not drink coffee during this time. Covid and other viruses reside in your central nervous system permanently. Taking the lysine and iodine puts the virus into remission.

1 Reaction@heminhaw - how is your constant headache? Still gone? What did you find out about the GCA?
@susanmaria
Did your GP or neuro recommend the iodine/l-lysine treatment? I've not heard of this treatment before. Thanks, Elaine
Dr Randall Tent/naturopath from Novi, Michigan recommended this method when I came to him in 2016. At that time I could not recover from a virus (CMV) that I believe I got from a foster child in my household. I went into a mono like condition that lasted over three month. I was able to recover from that virus when my GP did the lab testing but was unable to resolve it himself.
So two weeks ago I had my annual wellness checkup with my PCP and he asked if my migraine NP has tried Ajovy yet. I told him no she hasn’t mentioned it. He asked if I wanted to prescribe me with Ajovy so I said yes it would be worth trying.
Two days ago my insurance called me to inform me that they approved the Ajovy.
Yesterday I get this text message from my pharmacy….
Dear Customer,
You have 1 prescription (s) ready for pickup. Your estimated cost is $1087.38.
Your pick-up location is:
This was my reply…
Thank you but I would have to be insane to pay $1087.38 for medication!
Thanks anyway
Jody
The pick up location may as well been on mars because it would have the same chance of being picked up there as it does being picked up 2 miles away!
I know we hear many complaints about the price of insulin (rightfully so) but what about medicine for chronic migraines?
How can anyone afford the high copays of these medications?
Jody
