Possible stroke
Hi, I woke up with loss of balance and dizziness and went to a and e , they did scans but nothing showed up, the stroke team want to reassess me , I’m still getting really bad headaches and tingling down my left side , just reaching out if anyone else has had these symptoms? I’m a bit worried that I did have a stroke because the nurse said they can’t rule it out but I was told at the hospital it was a mini stroke?

Welcome to Mayo Connect. I am sure it was a very scarry experience and good thing you went to hospital.
I had similar experience few years ago, evaluated at ER, ruled out stroke and had me follow up with primary who ordered a neurology appointment. Everything turned out normal, but I did not have same symptoms as you are having.
Do you have follow up appointments with your primary or a specialist to determine cause?
@roch yes the stroke cons wants me to see him for another assessment as they can’t rule out a stroke.
Hi, @justjulie2025 - I wanted to add my welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Glad you connected with @roch.
That sounds like a scary experience you had and like the mystery continues.
I'm tagging some other members in the Stroke & Cerebrovascular Diseases support group here who may be able to offer insights from their personal experiences on what happened to you and as you continue to undergo testing @djs2023 @scottrl @shani @rjoestein @mb0926.
When is your next assessment, justjulie2025? How are you doing emotionally with all this?
I'm sorry you're going through this.
The good news is that you're getting medical attention.
I wish I'd been more thorough, and less in denial, about what was happening to me before my stroke.

Let's hope your situation turns out to be a one-off and you're okay.
Definitely it's better to be safe than sorry.
I had a TIA 15 years ago. I was waiting for our plane to come in and I started seeing a veil of haze on both eyes, like an opaque white curtain. I thought I had something in my eye so I kept flushing it out with eyedrops but it didn’t do anything. I went to the ophthalmologist & she said there was nothing wrong with my eyes but I should see a cardiologist. My doctor said I had a TIA. I haven’t had any problems since then, thank God!
@scottrl I just watched that video and it was an eye-opener to me. I wish everyone could watch this. I go to a doctor that specializes in Carotid arteries. I am so glad you are doing well.
@justjulie2025 - wondering how you are feeling today?
@carolman210 Thank you!
I'm glad you found it helpful. You may like other episodes as well.
My hope is that people can benefit from my experiences, good and bad. If I can make anyone's life easier, I feel good too.
Good luck!
@lisalucier I’m okay, I just keep getting terrible headaches! Thank you for asking!
@scottrl thank you
