Thanks! Yeah . . . I've read that saying things are "cured" is never going to be a thing. It would just be nice if they could say that, though. Did you have a tumor anywhere? My husband had a baseball-sized tumor in his small intestine they said was "aggressive" but because he was strung along for a whole year with symptoms, dismissed by a dermatologist (of all specialties) telling him he had a "heat rash", while he had so many other things going on at the same time . . . I couldn't believe it! "Aggressive?" Well, duh . . . . of course it was "aggressive". It was cancer for pity's sake. I think he had that thing growing the whole time they prescribed him some "special" soap. Haaaaa. What a pathetic, misdiagnosed excuse when he ended up with his Stage 4, Non-Hodgkins Large B-Cell Lymphoma (NHLBCL) . . . I have an acronym for what we were told but because I don't think it would be allowed on this forum, I shall refrain from sharing it here. Just one of many, many goofy things we were told here at the local level. His oncologist missed a PE for heaven's sake (3rd one, mind you). He had had two others in the past . . . yet she was perfectly willing to deny us a follow-up scan only 2 1/2 years after his R-CHOP treatments . . . . I had to walk out of the exam room that day after she told me that she would never make a mistake because she had been to med-school. I just told her, before I walked out, that I didn't care how much education she had had. I could tell there was something really wrong and demanded the scan. She later agreed after I walked out . . . and it took 9 hours for them to call us about the results and said we should head right to the ER because they had noticed that PE on the imaging results . . . . EXCUSE ME! It took NINE hours to determine that???? That's one reason we fired the docs we were seeing and sought help from MAYO for the kidney disease he has . . . long story there too . . . but, needless to say, we just had HAD it here and travel to MAYO now when we need to.
Anyhow . . . thanks for sharing your story. It was really helpful.
Best wishes,
Dawn
