Anyone have Squamous cell cancer and where?
I have a lesion on my left side of my face just below my ear. Does surgery help or is there a medical cream I can use to avoid surgery?

metermaidman, surgery can resolve squamous cell cancer and there are different types of creams.

1 Reactionmetermaidman,
I can tell you the experience that my husband had. He goes to the dermatologist every 3 months because he has many precancerous lesions frozen and he has had a couple of basal cell cancerous lesions. At one of his 3-month checkups the doctor recommended Moh's surgery for a squamous cell cancer. The cancer was quite deep and left a noticeable indentation in his head. I was shocked at how deep this cancer grew. We could not tell by looking that this was such a large cancer. I am so glad that we got him in for surgery right away. I realize that all cancers can be different, but I know that in my husband's case this was a very serious cancer. Does your doctor recommend surgery? If so, I think you should do whatever is recommended.

Thanks for your note. I am supposed to see some specialists, but don`t know when that will happen. I`m a Vietnam vet so I`m doing this through the VA system, and with all the cutbacks, I don`t know when I`ll get approved. I`m trying to get some medicated gels or creams that will help.
Again thanks for your note

Ok, Thanks for your note. I`m not sure what will happen for the surgery as I have some basal skin cancer too, and hope that I can use some medicated gels or creams for the basal skin issue.
Thanks for your note,
Phil F.

2 Reactionsmetermaidman,
There is a cream that dermatologists can use for pre-malignant lesions. It is called Fluorouracil cream, but a doctor would have to prescribe it after seeing the lesion. My husband had a choice to use this for one of his skin lesions, but he opted to have them frozen instead.
It's shameful that you have to wait so long to see a doctor. Hopefully you won't have to wait much longer.

2 ReactionsHi there! From what I understand, you can get SRT (superficial radiation Therapy) through Gentle Cure. I’m doing this treatment now for my two basal cell cancers and you can also get this treatment for squamous cell. Look up Gentle Cure and they are all over the country. Blessings to you for a full recovery! ❤️🩹

Trying to get pet scan no luck.

I had a squamous cell carcinoma tumor on my lower lip. Surgically cut out on July 30 - I had to go under full general anesthesia. Clean margins on first pass so that was good. Lip healed sickly. Then the pathology report - turns out the tumor was deep and had invaded the nerves (perineural invasive squamous cell carcinoma). So now I’m receiving radiation to my lower lip. 30 total treatments - my last one is this Friday - yay!!
I had a full body PET/CT before treatment started and it showed no spread. Will have scans and full body dermatology exams every 3 months for the foreseeable future. Squamous cell carcinoma tumors can be very bad!
