Has anyone had dietary success with C-diff?
It is my understanding that the bad bacteria in C-diff are fed by sugar and that Vancomycin kills both good and bad bacteria.
Has anyone been told to replenish the good bacteria by taking probiotics? Or been told to follow a low-carbohydrate diet in order to starve the bad bacteria?
Searching for a more natural way to control recurrent C-diff.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Elaine

@emstorm words from a world renowned infections disease doctor, Vancomycin does not cure c-diff. It only gives a false negative. That is why so many people get it back once they leave the hospital or SNF. It does slow it down from its full blown state. But it is taking the hair of the dog that bit you to cure you. It is only a temporary cure. Good luck.
@jfperrone I have heard great results about Vowst. Vancomycim will not cure you. It will slow it down and give you a false negative.
Vowst is good poop in pill form. Which is a lot safer and easier than a fecal transplant.
DIFICID is an antibiotic that cures C-Diff but they charge an arm and a leg for this.
@cas924 I love Peggy Lillis Foundation. Did you know you can also get C-Diff from pill form antibiotics? Just something to be aware of. Vancomycim is like taking the hair of the dog that bit you to cure you. It's temporary without further assistance from good bacteria.
@mrsjohn101 Oh yes. I am fully aware that any anti-biotic, even a topical one, could cause C Diff to return. Some doctors told me it’s the broad-spectrum antibiotics that are the most concerning, but other docs have told me that ANY antibiotic could be problematic. I am working hard to build my microbiome back to be as healthy and diverse as possible so that hopefully, if I ever have to take antibiotics again, my gut will be healthy enough to survive without a recurrence.
