Has anyone had dietary success with C-diff?

Posted by epm @epm, Nov 22, 2023

It is my understanding that the bad bacteria in C-diff are fed by sugar and that Vancomycin kills both good and bad bacteria.
Has anyone been told to replenish the good bacteria by taking probiotics? Or been told to follow a low-carbohydrate diet in order to starve the bad bacteria?
Searching for a more natural way to control recurrent C-diff.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Elaine

I'd suggest don't waste your time on band aid treatments like diet and antibiotics. My sister had CDIff for a long time. She suffered so much then she thankfully found a GI doctor who did fecal transplant, I was the donor for the fecal matter. Literally the next day she was 100% cured and stayed cured, after long months of horrible symptoms every day before that! Don't mess around and suffer, this is an easy quick procedure that works for C Diff, it has a 90% cure rate, how many other procedures can say that? Don't do the on line fecal capsules or anything have a GI doctor who does it regularly do it. They can get you donor fecal matter or as we did I was her donor, but I had to have stool analyzed first to be sure I did not have C Diff or something else to transfer to her. Afterwards sure, eat a healthy diet of many varied healthy foods and yogurt etc but the only thing that is pretty much guaranteed to cure you is Fecal transplant of healthy stool into your colon by a trained professional.

I had CDiff three times. The first time, it lasted for many many months and the infectious disease doctor told me that other than taking vanco, there was nothing he could do for me. Another GI doctor suggested that instead of taking on again/off again vanco, to taper off. This did the trick and I did that with the next two episodes. I've not ha CDiff for 7 years now. It sounds like the fecal implant is something new. Sounds like it is the ticket to your horrible dilemma. Best wishes for you.
