Vitreous Degeneration Flashes and Floater's / Treatment

Posted by linda82 @linda82, Oct 3 8:00am

Back in March of this year I started experience bright white flashes of light while I was on my elliptical. I was in my basement, and the room was dark. (I like to work out while watching my shows) It was mainly on my right side, and I kept looking to see what that light was. then I noticed having "floaters" I called my Eye Dr. to have it checked out. He told me that vitreous gel of my eye has started to degenerate, and it happens in aging. I started with Tobramycin-Dexameth Ophth Susp. for a couple weeks and Cyclosporine 0.05% eye Emuls viles for 90 days. When I went back to the Dr. He said it helped. Then 3 mths later I stared having it again and now in both eyes. I also have dry eyes, and they feel gummy. It also seems cloudy and want to blink a lot. I have now on my 2nd round of the Viles and they have suggested a Zocular Zest Treatment. This treatment is done in the Dr's office.
My question - has anyone else tried this treatment?
Alos, I have been using Ocusoft foam for years for dry eyes daily
Thanks in advance for any insights!
Linda

@mikaylar My Dr. said that the place I go to should have a Retina specialist if I need one and that they are affiliated with the hospital system.

I think they should always have a retina specialist for eye care but it’s just too costly to do so, losing your vision is far more costly, I nearly lost my vision because an optometrist gave me an incorrect diagnosis. In Canada a optometrist is not a medical doctor, they call run tests and use methods to detect a problem, they are useful for referrals but your doctor can also give you a referral to a specialist

I'm not a Retina Specialist, but I had bilateral vitrectomies for bad floaters, and my vision has been great ever since. It sounds like there was more going on with your eyes if they prescribed antibiotics. Have you seen a Retina Specialist?

@billybsea I do not have the floaters anymore, I mainly have the dry eye which the Cyclosporine 0.05% eye Emuls viles seem to be helping. I will ask my eye doctor about the retina specialist.
