Anti depressants

Posted by marie @mariemarie, Mar 4, 2017

I was taking 10 mg Citalopram for 8 weeks. Past week i was more depressed. Doc upped dose to 20 mg.on March 1. I have dry heaves in morning. My stomach is upset most of the day. I took Zantec just now. Maybe that will help. Anyone on antidepressants? If so, do they help?

@mariemarie, antidepressants do work. But they are not immediate (usually take them 2-3 weeks to see how they work) and your doctor may have to experiment with different antidepressants that work best for you. This is from my personal experience. Hang in there. Rick

Thanks, Rick. Wish dry heaves in morning when first wakeup would stop.

@mariemarie I'm not familiar with that med at all. You might try posting this question in the Mental Health group. Just go to the Mental Health Home page and post the question as you did here. Lots of folks there are taking meds and will share with you. By the way, how are you doing with the exercise program? Looking forward to hearing from you. Teresa

Decided to take escitalopram 10 mg instead. Only been on it few days. Guess it will kick in in a few weeks. The BIG program involves stretching...simalar to yoga. Four days /week for 4 weeks. Have a good day.
