@mmwagner46
Well I just started but it seems to work just fine.
I take 125 at about 6 or 7pm & go to sleep about 2+ hrs after that,
so get 8+ hrs of sleep
BUT
now I have another ( isn't there always...) I also take an anti anxiety & an
anti depressant so the Pharmacist said there could be a complication called "Seritonin Syndrome". Have you heard of that?
Because the directions say take Trazadone with food, I try to take it
fairly soon after dinner with a cookie or something light. I almost think
it did not work for me at the beginning as I took it right at bedtime without food.
Another person/ writer said it took them 3 hrs to fall asleep after taking
Trazadone, so I think taking it with food somehow speeds up the process.
Do I get sleepy in a couple of hours after= yes, but that feels good for a change,
rather than being wide eyed & worried about whether I will sleep or not.
More than you want to know but I read a book about sleep & the author suggested making a list during the day of what you are worried about to prevent worrying at bedtime. What do you think?

@kayraymat You DO NOT want to experience a seratonin sydrome. I did, and it is one of the most God-awful experiences that lasted 4 days. More that likely your antidepressant is what is called an SSRI or SNRI that effects the seratonin neuroreceptors..... trazodone is not classified as either but it does have an impact on seratonin, hence the possibility of a seratonin storm. Please double check with your physician and again with the pharmacist if he makes any changes. You are very fortunate to have a pharmacist looking out for these types of things.

@mmwagner46 Serotonin Syndrome is when taking too much medication that helps the brain produce serotonin, produces too much. It can be dangerous. Sometimes if someone is on an anti-depressant (an SSRI or an SNRI) and takes another medication that causes the brain to produce serotonin, it can be dangerous. Google "Serotonin Syndrome." Trazadone is an old anti-depressant that I have used for sleep for years now. I also take Cymbalta, 30 mg. I have taken 100 mg of Trazadone with the Cymbalta (which I take in the morning) and have not had an issue, however, as others have said, talk to your doctor about dosage.
@kayraymat I take 150mg. at 10pm and go to sleep at 10:30....fall asleep quickly and sleep through the night about7-8 hours
@mmwagner46 My prescription was only 50mg, probably why it did nothing.
@reillyg1013 Ask your doctor to up the dosage.

@kayraymat trazadone is more for keeping you asleep rather than putting you to sleep.
@beedom yep not good to mix the two. look it up.
