Can hashimotos cause a high platelet count and low mean cell hemoglob?
I was recently diagnosed with hashimotos in June my past two blood panels with platelet count were high and my mean cell hemoglobin keeps lowering.. now my hemoglobin is also low. My doctor doesn’t think the two are connected. I’ve experienced the normal symptoms with hashimotos like hair loss, fatigue, weight gain and have had a hard time controlling my body temperature I’m either too hot or cold.. I do experience muscle fatigue and pain sometimes at night or it can go on for 3 days. I’ll be seeing a hematologist but I just wanted to see if anyone experiences the same with the condition

@meganpeters013 Good that you’ve already begun the Levothyroxine. You might be experiencing the hot/cold symptoms now because you may have Hypothyroidism and are fluctuating back and forth from hyper to hypothyroidism. You medication will need to be tweaked while this is happening. You may also want to have a food sensitivity test done to see what foods are affecting you. I have given up eating gluten, dairy and soy for my Hashimoto’s and the body bloat is gone. I also suffer from Long Covid and have no taste or smell, which helps with the food elimination…but I sure would love to get that back as it’s been almost 3 years (December 2022).

1 ReactionI’m sorry for such a delayed response hematologist stated that it’s not a bone marrow disorder thank god but she ran a few tests and she now wants my doctor to refer me to a rheumatologist for my inflammation my iron has dropped extremely low in the matter of 3 months so she believes that my hashimotos is starting to take a toll on my body with inflammation..My ana test came back positive of course with a homogeneous pattern im still confused on that part but hopefully more answers soon from the rheumatologist.
