Obesity and weight loss: What weight loss plan worked for you?

Posted by jc76 @jc76, Aug 29, 2024

Interested in others weight loss plans that worked, and goals that worked. Batttles won and lost. Things you have done to stop triggers that lead to overeating or high calorie food.

Just started WEGOVY on 08/26/24 (.25) and nothing. No reduction in appetite or any side affects. Any similiar experience? Gosh am I going to be a person who gains weight on WEGOVY?

Been battling weight for decades. Did Nutrisystem and had great success but weight came back.

It seems when I get sick I eat more and it is snacks and things that taste good so gain weight as eat more high calorie and almost no exericise as sick. When somthing is goes wrong in life, relative or friend dies or very sick, arguments, etc. Yep comfort food.

Has anyone had good success with WEGOVY and smiliar experience with starting dose? Have you found a way that works for you and kept weight off.

Obesity is a known medical issue with many serious side affects. I seem to be losing the battle.

Thanks, going to really look into this. I have been reading so much lately about the benefits of intermittent fasting.

If you search YouTube for Dr Jason Fung and intermittent fasting he has really good videos that are helpful.

50 years ago, I lost 100 lbs on the Rice Diet at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC. I have kept off 70 lbs. I would like to lose more so I can have knee surgery. When I go to the bariatric doc, all she does is put me on protein shakes. I never lose weight on protein. I eat 1300 a day, and exercise (Pilates, walking, water aerobics), but all of those things are just to maintain weight. Don't know how to lose more. Frustrated.

Hi, @fatlikeus - you are doing some great exercise with the Pilates, walking and water aerobics. Sounds frustrating about protein not helping in your weight loss goals.

Just wanted to check in and see how things are going with trying to lose more weight?

Hello! I'm new to this group. I started taking Zepbound 4 weeks ago. So far, I feel pretty good, no nausea, fatigue at times during the day though. I'm not feeling bloated anymore, or hungry or have cravings for sweet foods. I would love to hear about your experiences !

My experience with this is taking WEGOVY.

I went through all the doses which did not work. I had a delay going on the highest dose as wife had surgery. When I took the highest dose about 2 hours later felt some nausea. I had had no side affects from the other doses.

When I woke up next morning had nausea and vomited. I got a acute visit at Mayo Jacksonville. At noon just before leavig to go to Mayo I vomited again. At Mayo they could not give me nausea medicine as interferred with heart medications I was taking.

I was told would have to deal with it as WEGOVY slowly left my body and would take several weeks. I came home and vomited again. I was given a diet to try to prevent nausea. I could not eat anything solid so ate mashed potatoes and drank protein drinks. I had to do that for several weeks.

My PCP said he sees this in patients time to time with the high dose. He said we could try Zepbound but wanted to wait couple of months to even consider it. He told me that Zepbound has two receptors to control appetite versus WEGOVY only had one. He went on to say he was seeing less side affects with Zepbound.

Good luck. I hope it works for you. It has for many many others. Just one of those unlucky did not work for me. But you are using Zepbound which my PCP says is better that WEGOVY.

Great for you. I have read many post who have been successful with these drugs and weight loss.

My PCP advised me I was part of those who do not react to the medications and do not lose weight or appetite. That was true for all the doses below the highest for me including side affects. With the highest came severe vomiting. so never knew if appetite would have been reduced.

I have read many post were posters go down from the highest dose with similar nausea and do fine with lower dose. My PCP insist you go through each level of dose to see if side affects or is working at that level for you.

Did you have any slow down in digestion and bowel movements?

You are among those lucky these drugs worked for you. I am jealous mine did not as certainly would like to be able to post my success like you did versus my personal experience.

@margosagemehl28 - how's it going this week with the tirzepatide (Zepbound)? Are you having side effects?

@larry68 - how's your week going with the tirzepatide (Mounjaro)?

@jllough1234 - 50 lbs. down in 7 months is great! How are things going this week with the app for you? Are you finding it easy or hard to get all your food logged?
