Your legs and fibromyalgia

Posted by pollyperf @pollyperf, Sep 15 11:29am

I have had fibromyalgia for 25+ years. I did take a bad fall last year only hurting head and shoulder. Ever since then I’ve had very painful legs. This week they are so sore, almost unable to walk. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

I am so glad to see others are having issues with your legs. When I get a pedicure I say, "Do not touch my legs!!!" No massages on my legs!!! Just below my knees are my most touchy.

Yes, extremely painful. What have you done, for your pain? How about meds?

Since 2000, I have tried all that the doctors recommended up until they got to Lyrica and I did not want to go there. Everything I took didn’t help the pain and made me drowsy and not able to function normally during the day. The only thing that helps me is an opioid, which I take very sparingly when I want to go somewhere and enjoy myself and I only take half at a time. It took an act of Congress for me to get the opioids. They give me a very limited amount every month, which is plenty for me. That is one very sore point with me that the drug addicts can have opioids, but the people with a lot of pain are very restricted. I understand the problem, but still……..

Lyrica actually works for my Fibro & Small Fiber Peripheral Neuropathy. It also calms my anxiety. Everyone is so different. Just have to see what works for you. Wishing peace & strength to all...

@pollyperf I agree with you. That also is all that helps my FM pain, in Canada I am able to get Tylenol 3s which I use inly as prescribed. My pharmacist has said that with what I take I would not become an addict. But when one has had such severe pain for over 40 years relief is necessary.

@joyceannv So sorry for your pain and those nasty meds. I have a friend in Grants Pass who has severe pain from back surgeries. All she seems to be able to get for her pain in Oregon is not from a doctor. Tho I am not a fan of hers or mine,Norco , that is all that gives me relief only taken VERY sparingly. Pray you can get some relief.

Lyrica/Pregabalin helps my fibro.

I have chronic leg pain. I can’t walk very far before the pain starts. It also just starts up when sitting too. I have edema in my lower legs, ankles and feet. Varicose rope-like veins all the way up my right leg. I think the left one is heading the same way as my right leg. I have a lot of pain in my right knee which had reconstructive surgery. My left knee had torn meniscus and torn ACL. The meniscus was repaired but I have a lot of pain there. Also pain behind knee. I take Eliquis to prevent blood clots. Sorry to go on and on but the pain is debilitating.
For Fibro I take Cynbalta and Nortriptyline. I don’t think it’s working. Fatigue is huge. Pain in right arm comes and goes.
I have no answers for you. I don’t have adequate medical care. Does anyone know what works to relieve pain?
