HRT
Has anyone had trouble with their physician concerning hormone replacement therapy?
My physician says I am too old to be treated for that. I am 69 but I feel that some of my problems are related to low estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.
After going through menopause many years ago and having the night sweats, etc. they were gone for several years and now I’m having them back as well as other issues like aches and pains, hair loss, anxiety, fatigue and muscle weakness.
Thoughts?

This is worth watching. My understanding was that you have to be a member of PBS - Passport , but I am not a member and was able to watch.
It expires on December 17th so you have a week!

2 ReactionsIn response to this I can't take any form of hrt. The irritation pain is getting bad enough to cause or contribute to symptoms of vasovagal syncope. My research reveals thus is possible. I also have ibs. Anyone know anything about this?
My pcp, who I consider conservative with treatment, said he would prescribe an estrogen patch if I have night sweats (which I do not). I'm 79. I would like it if it has bone and brain benefits but apparently the evidence isn't there and I haven't found a doctor who would do so.
Advocate for yourself. Look up your issues online using readily available AI.
Then back up your findings with legitimate studies from national institutes of health.
Your doctor will help you, but wants you to be an informed and educated patient as well as an active participant and advocate for your health.

3 ReactionsI went through menopause after my hysterectomy 7 years ago and it’s back with a vengeance as well but the Dr refuses ht and wants me to see a specialist I get debilitating cold sweats that last days I hate this
Could you give me his name and number? I live 4 hrs away.
Thinking seems to have changed on including age as a determining factor for starting bhrt. I started last year at 76 but had to go to a functional medicine provider. I am very happy with the results. I have a testosterone/estradiol pellet inserted every 12 weeks, progesterone at night, estradiol vaginal cream. Did he/she just summarily saw no or was there any additional reason for declining to prescribe? It appears that we women are going to be responsible for doing our own research. Probably good to be armed with good current info.

2 ReactionsThanks for a new resource. What does she have to say about older women starting bhrt? Personally, it has been a great choice for me. Started at 76. And I have no intention of stopping.
