Greater trochanteric pain syndrome, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis
I have recently been diagnosed with these three conditions. On top of a laundry list of vague symptoms. Have had very comprehensive blood work to rule out any autoimmune diseases or other causes. All labs come back WNL or negative. Started weight loss with Weight Watchers May 23.
Gradually lost 30 lbs. Had Covid in May 2024. Fairly mild case. Expected to feel great after that weight loss but have not. Lots of inflammation symptoms and these conditions diagnosed recently. Anyone else have this journey?

gmaxdesign, I'm sorry for your pain. If you haven't had an MRI,.. you should get one. You may need a total hip replacement. I was told by my doctor that I had trochanteric pain which was caused from Bursitis in the hip. Well, he was wrong! After believing him, I had steroid injections which should have helped if it were Bursitis. They didn't help at all! So, the sports medicine doctor who was giving me the steroid injections ordered me an MRI. I got the MRI and it showed severe osteoarthritis of my hip. He referred me to see a surgeon. The surgeon recommended a total hip replacement, and told me I would be pain free after recovering from the surgery. He was absolutely right! Total Hip Replacement surgery these days has much improved from years ago. I was walking fine right after surgery and went home the same day. No more Trochanteric pain! I wish you good luck. I was in alot of pain for months before I had the surgery. It was no fun for sure. Good luck!
Me too.
Thank you! You are right they did not do an MRI because I had one 2 years ago…I need to do that to rule out. So sad you have to fight for your health care today. I refused the steroid injections.
Suefish you had this same scenario?
gmaxdesign, may I ask why you refused the steroid injections? I would try getting them if I were you. Unless there's a good reason why you don't want them. I've had people tell me that the steroid injections really helped their pain. So yah...give it a try. It just may help alot! I don't know what state you're in, or if you have insurance, but in my state ( WI) we have really good Healthcare. I do have health insurance though. Good luck!
Not as severe, as I remember it, but my husband is a retired orthopedist and I’ve had a fair number of exams and pictures.
Hi,
I'm an RN and want a definitive diagnosis if possible before I decide on any invasive treatments. I'm not against steroid shots. I agree steroids help a lot. In FL and have full health insurance so thankfully that is not an issue.
I have had many, many, steroid injections, and RFAs. In the past, those injections and the RFAs helped greatly and for quite a while actually.
I also had a total hip replacement last year.
The hip pain did not resolve at all and injections and RFAs have no effect.
