Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain?

Has anyone ever been on Duloxetine (Cymbalta) for nerve pain? I've had 2 doctors push this on me. I know that the side effects can be terrible and getting off of it difficult as it requires titration. One time I remember taking one pill, and not liking the way it made me feel, so not taking any more, and still feeling the "weirdness" from it 2-3 days later. and that was only 30 mg Please pass along any experience or advice from this medication?

According to arthritis.ca - Duloxetine may be used to treat depression and anxiety. Duloxetine is also used to treat different types of pain, such as diabetic nerve pain, fibromyalgia pain, chronic low back pain, and chronic osteoarthritis (OA) knee pain. However, from personal experience - I do know that it can take between 2 to 6 weeks for it to become effective. Now on a dosage of 60mg duloxetine in the morning and 60 mg in the evening - plus - a weekly Butec Bupronorphine pain relief patch, my pain is at a reasonably tolerable level.

Wasn't for me either. Too many side effects. And didn't take the pain away

i have tried lyrica, gabapentin and i am now on dulexotine. my doctor just upped my dose to 90mg and it was working for me and now i think my body has gotten used to it and i am in severe pain again and muscle stiffness i am taking the dulexotine with lorazepam. the lorazepam helps me sleep at night at least. i am undiagnosed and am coming to the mayo clinic next month but for nerve pain nothing has worked for me not even pain medicine.

I just stopped Duloxetine 20mg after two days because of anxiety and muddled thinking among other things. My rheumatologist prescribed it, but I have chronic pain, not nerve pain. I don't know why he prescribed it for me.

Duloxatine is not for me. The side effects were such that I was instructed to come off, in a managed way.
I haven't resolved the question of what I can take instead.

I stopped Duloxetine after only two days of 20mg. Side effects were terrible.

I’ve taken it for years with carbamazepine and it helps take the edge off. I’ve just discovered magnesium lotion which is helping my numbness in my feet. I’m going to try a medical grade substance with an atomizer when the lotion runs out.

I used it for 3 months. It worked great and then stopped.
Ketamine has worked the best for my fibromyalgia and peripheral neuropathy pain. I can’t afford the IVs so now I use compounded sublinguals.

Eli Lily has stopped making Cymbalta. The generic is available. I have neuropathy and have been taking 120 mg/day many years. I went through withdrawal from gabapentin many years ago and that was brutal. I’m very concerned about not having the drug that helps with the pain. I’m worried about withdrawal. I get no benefit from the generic and wonder what is working for people now that we can’t get Cymbalta.

I guess I am lucky that it still helps me?! I have had 2 back and 1 neck surgery and my neck is really hurting for several years now. My original neck op was in 2011. I have been told to have another one but it would be much more extensive, approach from the back of my neck/head. I also didn’t feel comfortable with potential risks because of how many levels, etc.

I have used Cymbalta in the passed, its the only med that lower my feet pain caused by neuropathy, but that's not my story. I went in for back surgery, they started to put me out , before first cut, I had cardiac arrest, 3 session of cpr to get heart going again.I feel what happened to me was they had mixture of fentanyl in anesthesia which caused serotonin syndrome. Dr's would not confirm this.after release from hospital check on drugs.com is there any interaction between Cymbalta & fentanyl the answer was a big yes, it can cause cardiac arrest. I have been put out since several time,I always tell my story first with the interaction of the 2 drugs so they always make sure i have no fentanyl in there mixture. Needless to say I no longer take Cymbalta even tho it helped with pain. Its a different story how to wein yourself off of Cymbalta, Good luck on future surgery
