Walking without a hip joint

Is anyone currently walking without a hip joint?

My goodness , I thought I was bad. God help you. I’ve been in a nursing home for four years. Haven’t walked because of hips. Operation after having to lose weight, that was April. I was great. Now different story with the left. He cut my femur off went to do the socket, fell apart, closed me up said go to a joint specialist. Well, wouldn’t you know infection. So, went to Pittsburgh got washed out. Now I’m on antibiotics till Nov. I’m having such a hard time to s in a wheelchair or the side of the bed. Don’t the joint dr. Till Oct. 22. I have to see the surgeon down there that washed me but the nursing home is having a fit because can sit so i need to lay the whole ride which is 3 hrs. Away. Do you have any advice to help me sit. I’ m grasping at straws. Plus let me know.

dody, I wish I had some advice for you. All I can say is I pray for you and you should sue that doctor. Wow....I've never heard of anything like this! You should get a lawyer. Good luck. ❤️

I wish I could but this is going to be a long process. I'm just hoping the joint dr. Can replace my hip as soon as possible. I need to get out of the nursing home or i will probably loose my mind .Thank you for your thoughts. Please keep in touch and keep us on your progress.

OMG I can't believe what have n are going n through. I give you immense credit for hanging in there n persevering through it all.
First, you need yo get an attorney. To me, it seems you have a malpractice on several levels.
Secondly, you will be able to walk with assistance of several aides - a shoe with a lift after your leg is measured for length deficit. You will probably eventually need to use a crutch or walker indefinitely. Thirdly, depending on which leg with deficit, you'll be able to drive but with hand controls.
Life will be different but you'll still have a life. All.if us on this blog, in one way shape or form, have life an manage to get through it daily.
You're a strong person to get this far. DON'T GIVE UP.
Oh most importantly, you need to have a sense of humor. Studies have shown people who can laugh have better outcomes. So you hang in there. We're all here rooting for you n can sympathize with you.

It is hard to keep hopes alive. I know I really should get lawyer. So over it. This nursing home can’t take me to any dr.becase I can’t sit I have to go in a ambulance . Reading all the response on the blogs, it just scared me to death. Especially the infections that can go to your hip even if you have a tooth. Just so much to think .all I want to do is go home. I have looked into hoyer lifts and slings on amazon but I don’t want to lay that all on my brother. My husband will not help me been already there with that issue. Anyway enough crying. I am so glad to have this support. You keep strong.

Would you mind telling us a bit more about your question? We have a lot of members who have discussed having hip issues or replacements, but I have not come across the question regarding lack of a hip joint. Is this from an injury, surgery, or other medical issue?

Had a staph infection and I am still having trouble walking. It was done August 9th. I have to use a walker and sometimes a cane. If I had the spacer removed and a hip put in would that be better?

I am also without a hip joint. Had revision like 2 times and the Dr doesn't want to do the surgery because I had mesa and staff infection. I have a 2 inch lift on my shoe I have to use a walker to get around. Its very difficult for me to do steps of any kind. I had to retire from my job which I was in my 26fh year had 4 years to go for full retirement.

Physical therapy for the GOOD leg is important. It does all the work now. They will also teach you how to navigate steps.
