Connect Director,

Hi Colleen,

Thanks for inputting here & getting this train more aligned on its track.

I'm new here & it was a bit confusing for me just because its new to me.

Glad Mayo Clinic provides spaces like this. Appreciate all of you.

Thank you all.

It's all fine. I get yah. On another topic, what kind of activities do you most enjoy? Did you like specif8c school subjects? For me, I always volunteered for jobs that got me out of classes. Projector, hall monitor, street patrol, etc. Lol

Those two go together really well. Definitely an infinite seeming supply. Good picks.

@ginnysnow reading and journaling sounds like something I should be doing!

Once in a while I make a Gratitude List. That helps me see my life in a different light.
I’m almost 76, and have Mild Cognative Impairment. They tell me my memory loss is with Visual Memory.
I guess it would be a good idea for me to write about my life. I don’t know how to start…

So sorry I know what you are saying. I saw a new Cardiologist in clinic closer to my home and he did not listen and after being sent home from Rochester mayo hospital feeling hopeful for my future. This new Dr. totally made my condition sound dire and changed around my medication and made up symptoms I did not have. It was so bad with medication changes that the insurance carrier would not fill them suggesting I try a less hard medication first. The pharmacist agreed with the insurance carrier. How bad is that when you get warnings from these two. I sometimes thinkage has something to to do with not being listened to. We live in a society where once you hit a certain age your opinions are not heard. I find the Mayo Clinic connect very helpful to learn there is nothing wrong with your thinking.

I appreciate the understanding, I agree that as you get older that people don't hear you.

@SusanEllen66 Simply pull out a piece of paper, or journal, or notebook, and a writing instrument of your choice. And start writing! You can put down your thoughts, or wishes, of whatever comes into your head. Describe what is going on around you. Talk to yourself about concerns you have. There is no "right" way to write. You do what makes you feel comfortable. There are many books out on the market that you might find useful to help you get started. I particularly like the ones by Julia Cameron, who wrote The Artist's Way.

Also here is a conversation you could look at here on Mayo Clinic Connect: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/journaling-the-write-stuff-for-you/
@ginnysnow, this might be a good conversation for you, also!
