I had hiatal hernia surgery with fundoplication in December 2014. The only after effects I’ve had is I cannot vomit and gas. The surgery was done laparoscopically

2 ReactionsAll four (4) of my surgeries were performed laparoscopically also. You are very lucky. I wasn't so lucky. The comment i made was only a response to a question from a person requesting suggestions as to experiences others who have had the laparoscopic procedure performed to correct a hiatel hernia.

1 ReactionI had hiatal hernia repair that failed just two months afterwards. I think this might be because I have chronic constipation and strain. I am told there is a 50% chance this second surgery on Oct 2 will fail. The dr said then she would have to do open surgery which I am scared of because I have breast implants. I am hoping if I eat smaller meals and try not to strain on the toilet this second surgery will work. Has anyone else had similar experiences ?

1 ReactionHas anyone one had hiatal hernia repair at UVA Charlottesville Va
I am having my second one Oct 2. The first one failed after two months. The surgeon doesn’t use mesh which I am glad about.
@peck1944
I've been suffering from gastroparesis for about three years now, and it SUCKS! You have my condolences. I had Botox injections into my pylorus and while they were there, they noticed that my entire stomach has travelled into my chest through a hiatus hernia. I've got some other tests to go through, including an esophageal manometry test and another gastroscope, and then the surgeon says that she'll bring my in to discuss my surgical options.
Hopefully my vagus nerve won't end up even more dysfunctional than it already is.
Have you talked about Botox injections into your pylorus? It did help my GP symptoms. After this hernia surgery, my GI doctor says that he'll refer me for G-poem surgery because the Botox helped.
Best of luck to you.

2 ReactionsThank you for this advice I had the surgery 3 weeks ago today and it seems that the reflux is back and really bad in the evenings. I was fearing that my surgery did not work.
