Does anyone have a solution to help manage Reclast side effects?
Does anyone have a solution to combat Reclast side effects. I had the infusion a year and a half ago and the side effects started shortly after I had the infusion. I still have weak legs, swelling in feet, pain in bones, dizziness (serious dizziness), cold sweats, tired all the time and nervous twitching in bones. Any suggestions?

Im not sure i understand the last sentence.
Well, prior to having the infusion I just had the usual aches and pains based on my actions. Today, I wake up and I’m in pain instantly and just from moving just right during my sleep. Yes, we are going to experience different things as we age, it’s a given! Introducing chemicals in to my body that are just going to make daily life worse, why would I do that? For years I’ve experienced lower back pain and stiffness; received the infusion and it’s constant in new areas, my shoulders, left foot and now rib cage on both sides, can hardly ride in a car without pain and discomfort!
So, I’ve decided, I’m not going to receive any additional treatment from the endocrinologist department!
Thank you for clarifying.
We should all have dominion over our own bodies.
I opted for Zometa which is Reclast but a lower dose; 4 mg instead of 5. No issues other than some palpitations normal for me. I am 83 and have other health issues.
Covid vaccine does not prevent Covid but helps prevent severe disease and hospitalizations. I’m getting mine. Retired nurse anesthetist.
My wife just had a Reclast infusion a few weeks ago and it's becoming something she regrets. Swelling in the joints, pain, weakness and severe shaking. I've been searching high and low to find something to detox that crap but just can't come up with anything definitive. If anyone out there has any answers or suggestions, let me know.
rambol, steroids are hard on the bones, but seem to be the only real help with Reclast side effects. Some have side effects for a week that go away. Many have mild joint pain through the year. Others have a more severe long lasting struggle. Your wife may be able to get a 5 day dose of steroid which could be effective. IV steroid is thought to be the most effective. Rarely individuals are hospitalized after a Reclast infusion. There isn't any way to remove the drug from the body.
The serum half life of reclast is 146 hours. The medication attaches to the bone and releases over the year.
Anti inflammatories may help some. I've heard that exercise helps, but at some levels of pain, exercise is not possible.
I'm sorry your wife is experiencing this and am so glad you are advocating for her.
I’m now going to get my 1st reclast infusion in September after being on Evenity for one year than Prolia for 1 year. Needless to say I’m very nervous about this due to such negative comments. How are you doing?
I, too, have had many problems from the infusion and have decided I will not get another infusion. I had mine a month ago and was so sick for a couple of days and then had very bad pain that lasted for weeks in my lower back, hip - all after the infusion and swelling in my ankles as well as a sort of dizziness/weird feeling. I am not sure what drug to take next; unfortunately, I have been on a number of them that have given problems - forteo - got some minor hearing loss; did well with Prolia but had to go off it after 5 years, had lots of reflux from Fosamax, problems with Boniva. So, I am limited. I am hoping in a year or year and a half, I can go back on Prolia as I had no problems with that. Anybody else go back on Prolia after having been on it before and then having the break with Reclast?
I just shared about my experience as I just had the infusion not quite four weeks ago and I will not have it again. It was terrible. I was really sick for 48 hours, then severe back/pelvic/hip pain for many days. Swelling of my ankles. And now I still have dizziness and feeling just weird, I don't know how else to describe it.
I do not understand why doctors resist ordering a lower dosage if the goal of taking ReClast is to preserve gain from an anabolic, and the doctor takes his/her oath to "do no harm" seriously. There is data showing that even 1 mg might provide the same protection as 5 mg. More frequent tests for bone turnover markers might be needed to check if the lower dosage is actually working for a particular person. WindyShores doctor suggested 1 mg infusions to protect her kidneys.
