Bear with me on this, please: My eye surgeon's assistant yesterday said
AREDS 2 are important to take. She said any brand is fine. Store brand, etc. but to be sure it says AREDS 2 (I personally am wondering about quality, ingredients, etc. of the store brands. I'll have to research.) I mentioned the placebo effect that the other assistant mentioned a few months ago, and yesterday she said, yes it can just be a placebo effect but if even one person thinks it works that's great. I left shaking my head. I'll call them later and have the Triage nurse actually ask the surgeon himself about the AREDS 2 if I still need to take them. I get so confused.

Hi,

Thanks for your advice.

A brief searching on Internet, I found following information from National Eye Institute (NIH) :

AREDS 2 Supplements for Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

....
AREDS 2 supplements can’t prevent early AMD from developing into intermediate AMD.
medicine tablets

....
If you have late AMD in only 1 eye, AREDS 2 may slow down the progression of AMD in the other eye.

...
Are there any risks or side effects ?

Because AREDS 2 supplements have very large amounts of vitamins and minerals, they may change the way your body digests food. They can also change the way that other medicines work in your body. ......

That, the last, is very important.

I don't believe completely the myth of medicine tablets. I'll continue searching the natural remedy of AMD. Thanks

Regards
