Looking for a decent portable nebulizer

Posted by raybo @raybo, Jan 19 9:20am

So many of these look the same with a different name and fizz out in short order. I’m taking a long trip soon and need one for those times you are not in your room. Suggestions?

I am also convincing myself to get it. Yes nebology has it on sale $899 but my question is. Except sodium chloride can you nebulizer other meds with it?

Yes. The only thing I'm not sure of is Amikacin. If I used it I would call them.

Yes it is. I had to gulp and wait several days before I convinced myself to get it, but now I am glad. And it sterilizes beautifully on the stovetop.

Sue
After seeing all associated with the PARI eRapid Nebulizer System with eFlow Technology with all that comes with it, especially the battery, and batteries are so expensive in general, the price doesn't look so bad with consideration of travel, especially to other countries.
I am excited for you and your upcoming trip overseas.

Thanks for your review Sue. But does Medicare cover this nebulizer at all?

For what it is worth, I found this information with AI. Pari is of course the best source for information about the Compressor life span.
Medicare MIGHT if Pari says it lasts at least five years. Always worth a try with a doctors prescription for the system????
The PARI eRapid Nebulizer System, specifically the handset, is recommended to be replaced every 6 months. However, some users report using it longer than that. The nebulizer compressor itself is recommended to last 3-5 years.
Here's a breakdown of the replacement schedule:
Handset (eFlow Technology): Every 6 months, or when nebulization time more than doubles after cleaning.
Nebulizer Compressor: 3-5 years.
Disposable nebulizer sets: 10-15 treatments or a couple of weeks.
Reusable nebulizers: Twice a year.
Corrugated Tubing (for non-disposable sets): Once a year.
Mouthpiece & Dome (for ultrasonic nebulizers): Once a year

Thank you. I was wondering about levalbuterol or Budesonide.

Cost of ownership is a useful tool when evaluating a purchase. The variable of time, difficult to measure, but we all know with each tic tock of the clock we have less of it left. Perhaps the passage of time increases the current value of time?

So far, there is not a perfect compressor/nebulizer setup. We work with what we have. There's no right or wrong. Each has advantages and disadvantages.

BTW, there is no tubing with the portable eflow. Often, AI does not get it right. Information showing ranges of time and money might be most useful.

Where did you get the 20OFF coupon?

Just type 20OFF into the "promotions/discount" box (or whatever it's called) when you check out.

It doesn't have to last 5 years to be covered, it just has to last more than one year. BUT, Medicare will only cover one machine each 5 years, and under my plan it is only a Pari Vios (the one I call the "Big Green Machine").

I just bought the PARI rapid and I so excited! Currently I have several of the traditional sets of tubes etc, some pieces of which can be boiled but others that will warp and have to be soaked in alcohol. Just a big pita in my opinion. Plus the longer times spent actually nebbing with them with a loud compressor. So I’m hoping it will a welcome help. I’m getting one of the legionnaire shower heads too. This forum is SO helpful!
