What causes persistent swelling in the left supraclavicular?

Posted by Tully @tully, Jul 6, 2023

I have had off and on swelling of my left supraclavicular for years. In the past few months it is swollen pretty much all the time. I am awaiting results for an ultrasound but I’m very scared because everything I read about this is bad news and I have already lost a 38-year old sister to breast cancer and a 52-year old brother to colon cancer. Any words of wisdom?

Wow. I honestly thought this issue was rare. Thanks to Dr.Google I have been convinced for 5 weeks that I have cancer. Multiple tests later, I still no nothing. Every blood test known to man. All immunoglobulin tests done were fine. I'gE was not run. Going to request that. The only odd thing is a finding of maybe cold agglutins are present. CT of supraclavicular area was normal. Ultrasound of same area normal. No issues with carotid artery. Was talking to ortho Dr about issue with things today. We have a rapport. I mentioned this swelling to him. He said a lung scan is next. Did your doctors recommend CT or MRI. I have spot with PCP next and will request correct.test.
Has anyone tried lymphatic drainage massage? A friend recommends this.

Hi,
I too share the same mystery swelling of left supraclavicular area. I just had a CT scan yesterday from the base of my neck to the bottom of my lungs.
I will post again as soon as I receive the results and doctors’ opinion.

Thanks s much. I hope everything is ok. But I told a friend of mine, as much as I don't want to be sick, I really want some answers. Every negative test just sends me down yet another tunnel.

Going through this exact issue since Dec '24 and it's so frustrating! US and CT negative. Blood test good. ENT didn't know but I do have GERD/ acid reflux. Could this be a thread that ties some of us? Just went to a gastro to rule out pelvic issues (from Dr. Google), TBD. Sleep is super uncomfortable and already sleep bad as being 48 and peri. Could peri/ meno be another thread? Glad to know I am not alone;)

Definitely not peri/meno, no acid reflux or gastro for me, nor do I have sleep issues.
