I had mine removed at age 70. I’ve never experienced pain like that in my life. If you do have a tonsillectomy be sure to stay ahead of the pain. Take the pain meds on schedule. The 5-6-7 days are the worst. A total nightmare. A spinal fusion for me was a walk in the park by comparison.

Yes, I had my tonsils out at age 39. My husband had his out at age 31, eleven years earlier. My OBGYN compared it to being circumsized at age 31. We both lost over 20 #. The ONLY WAY we were able to restart eating was, after several weeks, to blend everything and swallow, scream, repeat.
But I'd redo that anyway, compared to a femoral vein catheter embolization for a carotid neck tumor. Felt like I was being impaled to the operating table. This was 2 weeks ago; I'm 69. I've had multiple screaming nightmares in the past 2 weeks... major PTSD.
