Post covid itch and hives
I’m 11 months post covid and have been experiencing red, itchy skin for a couple weeks now. When I itch my skin I get hives. Antihistamines seem to work but then it comes back after a few days. Hot water and heat seems to aggravate the situation. Anyone else experience this and find something that works?

Thanks so much. My physician husband of many years and also my doctor want me to see a neurologist. Their implication is that I don’t have LC; it’s possibly more like dementia or worse.
The Evil Itch
COVID causes a persistent whole body inflammatory response which can be largely corrected by adopting and EXTREME diet and nutrition plan. Most people will not be willing to sacrifice “the food that I love” for a chance to return to a healthier pre-COVID life. For me, now that I feel like I once did, it was worth it and continues to be worth it.
I’m 70 years old. COVID March 2020. Mild case resulting in brain fog, and neuropathy in my legs that became disabling by March 2021. Gluten free diet, and eliminating processed foods, red meat, deli meat, pizza and dairy in March 2021 and adding 1500 mg l-proline (Now Brand) This is the same amount of proline in collagen supplements, which I can’t use because they make me nauseous. Pain was reduced in 2 weeks. Leg function returned and back on my treadmill within 3 months. Raynaud’s diagnosed in March 2021. This continues. A strange symptom of this is inflammation, redness and open sores on my fingers which were diagnosed by my PCP and dermatologist as contact dermatitis. After two “winter cycles” where it only appeared from Dec to March it was re-diagnosed as a symptom of Raynaud’s. No skin treatment corrects this, only very warm gloves and avoiding exposure to temp below 30 F.
12 skin infections from 2020-2024 from simple cat scratches or mosquito bites, progressing to infection and cellulitis, requiring 10-14 days antibiotics. This was largely corrected by using Botanic Hearth Tea Tree Body wash as a body wash, hand soap and shampoo (helps with itch as well), AND eliminating artificial sweeteners (using Monk Fruit powder now), and adding one ounce of organic pumpkin seeds (ground to powder and added to pasta) every day.
However, the hives and itching continued. Itching and hives on my head, itching on shoulders, upper back, under my arms. This was corrected by realizing that this “Evil Thing” causes histamine intolerance and food allergies to ANY food or spice that releases histamine. I had to eliminate, yogurt, mayo (contains vinegar), garlic, rosemary, pickles, dill, tomatoes, tomato sauce and salsa. I know the food thing to be real because I have tried to add these things back in one at a time and if I do I get the itching and scalp hives within 3 hours after eating which persist 2-3 days.
What do I eat daily? About 300 g of frozen organic blueberries, 10 oz of organic rolled oats, (8-minute cook time, drain and rinse because I like to remove the soluble fiber but that’s just me. 2 scoops of Vega Protein plus greens vanilla). This mix is my two main daily meals. To liquify the gruel, I use Califia Vanilla Organic Oat Milk. Why this exact one? Because the regular one has too much omega which may increase bleeding. My third meal: Organic frozen “riced” broccoli cauliflower (heat to 165 F) which is mixed with AGT Foods Veggipasta (Rotini) available from Amazon. I add my ground pumpkin seeds to this. Occasionally, I add white meat from Rotisserie chicken to this.
Thanks.
