I'm confused about what my loop recorder is actually doing!
I've had a loop recorder for about 18 months. I'm very confused about what this is actually doing or just supposed to do. If I haven't recorded my own symptoms (such as fast heart beat when I wake up at night), is it still monitoring my heart's activity? If not, it seems like I'm sleeping through any other symptoms that may arise and they aren't recorded! I know, I need to ask my doctor. I want to ask here first so I can understand this and not feel stupid! Thanks for any advice.

Just a thought- was your Loop Recorder the type that has to have a button pushed when you're symptomatic or does it record 24/7/365 without any prompting?
I knew this ilr was a terrible idea from the start. "My" ep told me this was the only thing he would do as my next steps. I tried to get a second opinion and they said the same. The first few weeks, they were clocking me at 150-160 and calling me but I wasn't feeling well due to getting cut twice for the implant and getting covid the next day. Just for me to pass out a few weeks later and they claimed to have picked up nothing. The ep nurse asks me why didn't I hit the button...I'm supposed to unlock my phone, go to an app and hit a button to record while passing out?! I thought it automatically records the way they were calling at first. I called the nurse weeks after because I wasn't feeling well, my watch was even clocking me at 160+ and that's when I learned they upped my threshold to 170... so deceased is my magic number for auto recording. They only picked up 170+ once while I was sleeping. My last loc, (that they didn't get) was me waking up from sleep, tried to stand up and I was out...I highly recommend never implanting a loop recorder unless it's always recording, you have a good ep AND you have access to your results. My ep is acting like they haven't found anything this whole time when they were calling me every week, asking if I'm ok. Id rather have gotten another smartwatch and finding an EP that cares.
Hello you were wondering of what year was recorder was doing hey I thought the same thing I needed to have a loop reporter cut in my first one it did not catch anything after 4 years the battery went out to put in my second week reporter finally on my second loop recorder they found that my heart was pausing and doing weird and arrhythmias because I needed to keep that thing with me all the time and I needed to keep a diary. Here we keep on telling me you just had tachycardia or a bradycardia. On one of the episodes I had a 3-minute pause. Several different and arrhythmia is on it now they say that's why I'm on Metropol and my cardiac medicines. Don't give up keep fighting and keep reporting symptoms.
I had my Linq loop recorder implanted about two months ago. During the monitored period after the implantation I had multiple palpitations and one AFIB. When AFIB happened, the doctor's office called to tell me that I was in AFIB. Nobody calls me about my palpitations even though I'm sure that recorder records everything, so it is obvious that the doctor decides what they want to monitor and what is not important and I accept that. After all, our treatments are all about surviving as long as we can, not making us young again. 🙂
You don't need to have it removed. They can turn off the transmission.
I have noticed that this is a pattern of Doctors and their companies they hire to monitor the Loop recorders. Mine is three years old and works well but I only get reports weeks after they happen. The cardiologists only review it once a month at my current clinic. I am wondering if we all should get reimbursed for the lack of care and commitment as well as neglect by these doctors! I was emotionally disturbed when my Cardio Doc called and said I need to come in right away since I had a lengthy event. Three weeks after the event. Un heard of and no excuse and an apology was given. Then it happened again. And again no notification til weeks later. I will show you the print out I ask for ! Disgusting. Purhaps a class action suit should cause them to do something about their neglect of these companies and monitors. Medtronic's agreed this is unacceptable. see my print out below A serious 2 hour plus first time and 1 hour plus the next Unreported by the company monitoring BIOBRIDGE. So far no lawyers have taken my case. They claim 24/7 attending by techs and Nurse. I hardly think this is acceptable. Please chime in. I live in God's waiting room Florida and thought I was getting the best care!
It is up to the EP doctor to look at it. Did they tell you anything about it? Did they think it is serious to do anything about it or do they think it’s all normal when they take you into the office? It’s up to the doctor sometimes a doctor looks when the doctor looks at it. They don’t think it’s that serious. It’s up to the doctors determination because those are only tech people from the for Medtronic they are not doctors. They’re only tech people. They are not doctors and sometimes doctors can see. Have they ever told you you got a lot of noise and your thing sometimes if you’re having symptoms like shortness of breath or chest pains, they’ll say to go see your doctor right away even if there is a lot of noise for further evaluation that are from Medtronic that are monitoring it. They’re not 🥼
Are you passing out? Do you get lightheaded? Do you faint? I think if you were having a one hour pause you’d go into cardiac arrest. It’s a one minute pause out of one. I don’t think I’m not a doctor, but I don’t think you’re having a one hour pause because when I got up tooth at three second positive they put in a pacemaker in me up here in Colorado so I’m sure if you’re having a one hour positive would’ve done emergency surgery on you and if you are, I’ll go into the emergency room that would be emergency. You’d be passed out.
The Doctor was very concern that BIOBRIDGE did not notify her! She pays a lot of money for their services and They did not contact the doctor at all. what good are they doing? She called them out but three weeks later it happened again. No report to the Cardiologist. Oh well it seems like a useless world of gadgets and people that get paid for doing nothing! The offices are "way to busy " to monitor and hire out.
