Hysterectomy 4 months after FIGO1 Endometrial Cancer Diagnosis

Posted by fos54235 @fos54235, Apr 22 7:46pm

I am 61. Had spotting on 2/4/25. Saw GP on 2/5/25 for PAP. Transvaginal ultrasound results 1.6 CM thickness the following week. D&C on 3/4/25. Pathology report received following week Endometrial cancer FIGO 1. There is only one Gynecological Oncologist in my area & had to wait 3 was for appt. CAT scan & EKG on 4/22/25. Found out today my hysterectomy is not scheduled until 7/10/25. Waiting 4 months for surgery after the pathology report seems too long to me. I am going to try to get in another gynecological oncologists practice 1 hour from my home for 2nd opinion & hopefully get surgery sooner. What are your thoughts on a 4 month wait?

I wrote a bit-too-lengthy a reply just a minute ago. I wasn't on yesterday, but felt better than expected, and better yet again today. I am blessed that it seems to be healing well. With the pending kidney surgery (in just 2 months), I need to be complication-free and back in reasonable health for success in that. It will be an inpatient/overnight. I really wanted to have these two together, so I'm not spending most of this year not well (Q1), chasing diagnoses, labs and test (Q2), post op from this (July & Aug) and post op from the PCNL (Sept & Oct). But... it was not to be. I remind myself how fortunate I am that the kidney stone caused me to have the scan, where they discovered the endometrial cancer early (It wasn't on my radar). And to be able to have such excellent medical care.
Not focusing on the next surgery yet at all, just on healing from this one and gratitude.
Thank you for asking!

The body is such an amazing machine. The hip- groin issue resolved with time & I think gentle walking. Only slight discomfort when bending a certain way. Able to sleep without any medication. Each day that goes by I see less swelling of the belly which is good bc I had a big belly before surgery. I have had some uncomfortable chaffing bc my abdomen is sitting on my thighs. Medicated A&D & corn starch helped a lot. I also still have some loss of sensation in my abdomen @ upper thighs but that is returning more each day as I heal. I didn’t realize how much would be impacted even with the robotic surgery. I will be 2 weeks post op next Monday & I feel so much better than week 1.
