What medications for TBI symptoms work for you?

Posted by westd @westd, May 3, 2020

Hello, wondering what medications work for you in regards to TBI’s? I take klonopin helps with dizziness, gathering thoughts, & able to speak a bit clearer. Not trying to jumble my words out. Also helps with the social aspect of not feeling as sharp as others...

I got my TBI in 2015. I was prescribed 90 mg Adderall taking 30 mg 3 x a day as well as xanax than switched to Klonopin.

It took along time to find meds that worked that. They finally worked for over a decade until I went to jail and my doctor retired .

Now I can't find a doctor to prescribe me my normal does of 30mg Adderall 3x a day with my Klonopin 3 x a day .

Anyone that knows a doctor in Michigan that will help me get back on track please help me.

Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect, @justaskjaketbi. It undoubtedly can be hard to find a new provider when your doctor retires. But it would be great to have a new doctor who would review your medical records and discuss treatment options with you.

What symptoms of TBI are you dealing with now?

I had a craniotomy may 2014. I was tapered off clonopin in 2018. I do take lamotrigine ER 100mg for seizure prevention. I also take escitalpram 5mg for ptsd lisinopril 10mg and levothyroxine 150mcg. If I get dizzy I need to hydrate rest ge out of the heat. I don't take any meds for TBI. Have you discussed your symptoms and your need to take meds for a TBI with a doctor?
