Anyone had an ablation for lower back pain

I’ve had low back pain for 2 years. Pain injections did no good. Any good results with ablation

I have been having ablations on my lower back every six months for a few years.
I’m not going to do it again.
The last one was extremely painful and didn’t help at all.
None of them ever gave me relief for very long, but I was hopeful that they would help.
I won’t bother again. It’s just too painful and doesn’t work.

I'm scheduled for a RF ablation next week. A couple of days ago, the doctor injected lidocaine into specific areas in my lower back (L3-L4 and L4-L5). It worked! I was pain free for several hours (it was only supposed to last 3-4 hours). This indicates that he hit the correct nerves. Now that the location of the nerves has been determined, I'm now scheduled for the ablation. I'll let you know how the lower back pain is doing after I go through the procedure. My daughter (who is a spine surgery PA) told me she's had patients where the ablation lasted for 2 years. That would be wonderful - currently I'm in pain all the time.

I have had an ablation on my left loser vertebrae. It did work. I’m happy I did it. Good luck to you next week.

I’ve had half a dozen RF ablations every six months.
They used to help a bit, but the last one was a terribly painful procedure and did not help at all.
I’m not going through it again.

Yes, I had fantastic results with ablatia. It didn’t the nerves that were causing referred pain around the front of my legs. It took a couple of ablations in the same area for it to take hole. Also only heat a blazer works on me and pulse did nothing.

Has anyone here had anything called 3D MRI which an give a better picture of issues involving soft tissues? If so,
was it covered by Medicare?

I've had 2 ablation. 1st one worked 8 months. The 2nd has been over a year. Make sure they put you under or it can be extremely painful. I know.

Yes I've had ablation it lasted 6-8 months. In 2005, had whole lumbar spine fusion.

If you have both lower back pain and muscle tightening as you walk does RF ablation help only the pain or does it also help with the muscle tightening too?

This past week I just finished a course of ablation on both the left and right side of my lower back. I had ablation on my right side two weeks ago, and on my left, two days ago. After the ablation on the right side, the pain increased. Is this normal? No immediate relief but hope there is some relieft in four to six weeks. Is this normal and/or a common experience?
