Adding a Watchman
I am scheduled for an ablation and watchman proceedures next month. I am having afib with A/V up to a maximum of 640/124 hpm. That made me feel like my heart was fighting to get out of my chest! So therefore, I am delighted to have it treated so i can feel better and not take arythmia drugs & blood thinners. From what i understand, an ablation is approx 80% successful. I was very nauseous from the Sotolol. I am curious about how they install the watchman? Is is through the groin too and how big is it?

Watchman video (hopefully as I haven’t copied a link from my phone before). If it doesn’t work just go to YouTube and type in watchman FLX device animation
Rebecca - Exciting for you to be close to eliminating AFib and getting off meds soon.
It works, interesting video. The LAA is really a weird body part!
How did you feel energy wise after the procedure; did u go home next day; do you have energy to cook light meals?
My surgery ablation isn't into 7/16.
Isn't until 7/16
Yes! I was able to play your link and it was very informative. Thanks for sharing.
I had the Watchman device placed on May 2025 at Lexington Medical Center in a West Columbia SC. The procedure went well. I had two episodes of bleeding post-procedure. I went home the next morning. I had bruising from my groin to the middle of my thigh. I had tenderness for about a week. Overall I felt good. I was able to cook and other non-strenuous activities. I couldn't lift anything over ten pounds. I was able to come off Eliquis and was put on Plavix 75mg and ASA EC81mg. I will have to stay Plavix for six months. After that I will stay in the ASA EC for the rest of my life. I would do it again to be able to come off Eliquis.
