Hazy Vision in the Dark – Anyone Else Experienced This?
Hi everyone,
I have been dealing with a variety of health concerns lately and am currently undergoing testing for a possible neurological condition. One unusual symptom I have not been able to find much information on is something I notice with my vision at night.
When I turn off the lights to go to bed, I do not immediately see the usual darkness ,instead, it is as if a white haze or fog fills the room. It blocks out any faint light from the windows. After a few minutes, this fog seems to fade and my vision adjusts to the darkness as expected.
I am trying to figure out whether this might be an issue with my eyes or possibly something neurological. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have any insight? I do appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks in advance for any suggestion.

Hi,
I have Retinitis Pigmentosa which is an eye disease that causes you to go blind. However, my case is mild so I just have symptoms. One of those symptoms is similar to yours and that is whenever I go from a lighted area to a dark area I get these light "c" shaped circles for a few seconds and then they are gone. I am going to ask my ophthalmologist about them at my next appointment. You might want to start trying to figure out your situation by making an appointment with an ophthalmologist. They are also doctors as opposed to just an optometrist.
I've had eye issues since I was 6 and I'm currently 79. One thing that has really helped my eyes was prayer. God is always there for you.
I'll say a prayer for you.

I am 72 year old diabetic. I noticedbthe past 2 years when I come in house from outside. That I can not see in the dark very well, it's very upsetting. The eye Dr has not found anything wrong with my retina. I have questioned if it is cerebral microvascular disease i have causing this? No answer yet.
If you close one eye and then the other do u see the same fog in both eyes? I see white but mine is in the shape of a ball; mine is from macular degeneration. Good luck
Thank you all so much for taking the time to share your experiences and thoughts,it really means a lot.
I appreciate you mentioning Retinitis Pigmentosa. Your description of the c shaped lights is interesting and somewhat familiar. Thank you also for the reminder to see an ophthalmologist rather than just an optometrist I agree that might be the right next step for me. And thank you sincerely for your kind words and prayer. That support truly comforts me.
To the second person thank you for sharing your experience as well. I can relate to how unsettling it is when your vision does not adjust as it should, especially when coming in from outside. I am sorry you are going through this without clear answers too. I hope you are able to get some clarity soon,it is a frustrating place to be.
And to the person who asked about seeing the fog with one eye vs. the other thank you, that is a good question. I had not thought to check that specifically but I will now. I am sorry to hear you are dealing with macular degeneration. Wishing you strength and healing.
Again, I am truly grateful for the thoughtful responses. This community is incredibly supportive and I am glad I posted here.
