Anyone out there? I have this bad. But also have been throwing up and diarrhea. Am trying to find out what causes the second situation. Thanks. T in Pinehurst NV

Why would you have to replace them? Mine has a cover I wash.
My wedge has never flattened and I have had it for years. Mine goes on top of the mattress. There are also inflatable wedges you can take on vacation. I got all my info from Johns Hopkins.
I use these risers under the head of the bed and they work great, I like them much better than a wedge, I have had trouble with GERD , hiatal hernia, recurring peptic ulcers, then organoaxial volvulus stomach, and now bleeding esophagus, It has been frustrating trying to find a doctor that wants to try and find out why. .they mainly just want to take a few symptoms, and prescribe medication, Things have Ben worse since I had covid in 3/2020. Covid can reactivated latent viruses, I have recently found many articles leading to a cause of reactivated varicella virus which can be treated so it is important to look into, I have also read articles indicating that melatonin can work as well as omemprazole woth ought the serious side effects, You can find a great article about melatonin functions and safe products on Consumerlab.com and many NIH articles.

2 Reactions@sylvermoon8 I was responding to @robertatheriveter who puts the wedge pillow under the mattress, not on the mattress. On the mattress would be fine, but a wedge under the mattress would eventually flatten the wedge because of the weight of the mattress and the body on it.

1 ReactionMany things can trigger acid reflux it’s good to try and find the source. It could be slow digestion (I have gastroparesis), certain foods or drinks, medications, etc. I was on aciphex for decades and encountered challenges from extended use. I’ve been working with natural supplements and a specialist to try and help improve my gut and colon health. I take whole leaf aloe vera juice sometimes multiple times per day. Try eating smaller more frequent meals and keep a food diary to identify triggers for elimination. Walk after eating and don’t lay down right afterwards. I also slept elevated in a recliner for years and eventually got a sleep number adjustable bed which has been amazing but very expensive. There are many other brands and options available now that are cheaper but a wedge can work as well anything to help keep the upper half of your body elevated. Good luck!

3 ReactionsYou may have laryngopharyngeal reflux in addition to GERD. Check out Dr. Jamie Koufman's web site for a ton of free info on diet and lifestyle changes you can make to improve your health with LRP. BTW a GI doc won't diagnose LRP. You have to go to an ENT for that. So an endoscopy by a GI doctor will be helpful to assess your esophagus and stomach, but not your throat.
