Help for COPD

Hello, I’m wondering if anyone has been prescribed Roflumilast for their COPD? If so, did you have side effects?

My doctor has me take Mucinex morning and night. Does anyone else out there do that?

Hi , Yes I take Musinex DM 1200 morning and night . I am taking the Walmart brand equateDM. It is just a bit cheaper . It works the same for me . I am taking The equate D just now , I’ve had a cold with sinus & ear problems . The D is a behind the counter “recipe” . It has an added ingredient for nose , sinus and ear relief . The DM in Musinex or Equate has a cough suppressant. But it works great. Guaifenesin is not covered by my drug insurance. Crystalina

I have COPD, MAC Lung Disease and now Bronchiectasis so I take the Extended Release 12 Hr Mucinex 600mg in the morning and evening. The only ingredient is Guaifenesin. It thins the mucus some so it's easier to cough up. As annoying as the coughing is, I never want to suppress it, it is far more important to clear the lungs and not have all that mucus in there acting as a breeding ground for all kinds of nasty infections.

Why would you pay for Musinex if the only ingredient is Guaifenesin. They do sell time release Guaifenesin. I used to use Musinex1200 . It had a cough suppressant in it . It never seemed to stop me from coughing. I stopped using Musinex DM when the FDA proposed taking away the phenylephrine. They did this at my Walmart. Last time I looked there was not any Musinex on the shelves. They replaced it with equate Musinex DM. It has Guaifenesin but no phenylephrine. It does not work like it , or the Musinex used to work . I use time released Guaifenesin. I don’t think it works as well either . I have tried three kinds of Guaifenesin. None of them work like the original Musinex with phenylephrine. Best to you. , Crystalina

ktf, thank you for your reply. I also was prescribed 250mg. As I said in another reply, I’m having a terrible time with anxiety and have been afraid to begin the medication and make it worse. It sounds like you haven’t experienced depression, etc. from it. I can deal with some diarrhea. Obviously, it affects everyone differently so I must make a decision soon. My COPD is worsening and I have to somehow get it under control. Thank you again…there may be some others who share their experiences.

All the best with our journey

I give it to my husband before bedtime when he can’t lay down to sleep while recovering from a lung infection. Works well you just have to find the right Mucinex for you.
